If you have given any checking account information to a CAMCO employee via "check by phone" or any other means, stopping payment on a check is good for 6 months. At the end of 6 months you have to pay another $20-$30 to keep the stop payment action in place.

I bank with Wells Fargo and they sent me a notice informing me of the above. I wonder how many people have no knowledge of the "6 month rule". Do all the banks do this?

The best thing to do is immediately close out your account and open a new one. Do it quick!!! You want to get to it before they do. Luckily, I got to my bank first so I didn't lose anything.

I fell for their scam and learned a very important lesson about blind faith(assuming CAMCO was legit), what info to give and what not to give to anybody and trusting my gut instinct. My gut was telling me something wasn't right.
