I have some question's. When I send the "Cease & Desist" letter, return receipt, who signs for it if it's going to a P.O. Box number. Also do I have to send 2 letters, because the envelope has a return address of P.O. Box 4478, Houston TX. 77210-4478. The letter is post marked Houston, TX. But the actual letter says that the s**t Heads of CAMCO are located at P.O. Box 5087, Rockford. Ill. 61125-0087.

On a previous report that I was reading, it stated there is an actual street number of 303 North Main St., but is that in Rockford, Ill.? Do I send 3 letter's. Then I also read that the Company's OWNERS name is JERRY KUBER. Do I address the "Cease & Desist" letter to that person?

Why don't people call them up and F@(& with their heads like your really going to pay them something, just to tie up their lines? Make up an account number and name, really PISS them off. And make sure you tell them to have a nice day, before you hang up. Have fun on their ACCOUNT.

Thanks.

Original Business Start Date: July 1997
Principal : Mr. Jeffery Garrington Compliance Officer
Phone Number: (866) 745-5420

Type-of-Business Classification: Credit-Collection Agencies

The information in this report has either been provided by the company, or has been compiled by the Bureau from other sources.

Nature of Business

Capital Acquisitions & Management Company also known as CAMCO purchases delinquent accounts either directly from the original creditors or from a subsequent holder of accounts. Any accounts that they are collecting on are believed to be owed and therefore now owed to CAMCO. It is important to remember that each state has its own Statues of Limitations applicable to unpaid debts which could be anywhere from four to ten years. However in most states, including Illinois, the expiration of that the Statue of Limitation merely extinguishes the right to sue on or other wise legally enforce the debt, and does not extinguish the debt itself. There does not appeared to be anything that prohibits a collector from seeking voluntary payment of the debt as long as the collector does no pursue or threaten the debtor with litigation. CAMCO will provide verification of the debt upon request and if CAMCO is unable to provide verification of the account the account is cancelled and will not be resold.

Customer Experience

The complaints on file allege that representatives have been rude and/or the consumers allege that they do not own the debt or it has been discharged in bankruptcy.

When evaluating complaint information, please consider the company's size and volume of business. The number of complaints filed against the company may not be as important as the type of complaints and how the company handled them.

Cease and Desist Letter Instructions

#4Consumer Suggestion

Shellie--Good for you on seeing through this "company" and getting your cease and desist letter in place. I sent mine to 303 N. Main Street in Rockford (can't remember the zip code, but you can find it at USPS.com). Be sure to certify the letter. If you send it to the PO box, they are likely to ignore it -- if you send it to the street address certified, the letter carrier hands it to them and has to watch them sign it.

I addressed my letter to "Dear Sir or Madam" (which is pretty generous, considering the lowlifes who run that place).

Also, if you really want results, write your state attorney general's office, copy the letter, and place it along with your cease and desist letter to SCAMCO. My AG's office wrote to CAMCO and told them to explain why they were bothering me. Of course they had no good answer and closed my account. I haven't heard from them in almost six months.

Best of luck!
