My wife received a letter from Camco dated 2-13-2003, stating the following: This letter is to notify you that your US Bank/Corporate CA account which was formerly held by FOURSCORE CAPITAL, LL has been purchased by Capital Acquisitions and Management Company".

CAMCO was asking for over $2,500 in bad debt payment. The CAMCO letter explained that if she did not dispute the letter within 30 day that they would assume this debt is valid. We put this letter aside because my wife could not remember any debt of this type.

On 2-26-2003, my wife received a second letter stating in a harassing manner, "We at Camco have decided to extend a most generous offer of settlement until 03/25/2003.

At the time, unless on of the options suggested below is accepted. We will evaluate your credit history and present financial circumstance, and then proceed with an appropriate collection program in accordance with state and federal law".

Camco took for granted without any proof at all that the person contacted at the address these letters where sent was that person. And without verification sent a second threatening letter. To protect my wifes credit I decided to pay the settlement fee and do more research regarding this company. I will send all letters and pertinent information, as well as file complaints with the Federal Trading Commission, Attorney Generals Office and BBB regarding the manner in which this company approached my wife and threatened her credit, etc.

We have no evidence that this was her debt and will be researching this debt much further. After reviewing other complaints on this web site and seeing that one individual had listed the Statute of limitations site, we could have easily told the company that the statute of limitations had passed. It is too late for us. Please read every complaint on this web site and makes a more calculated decision before contacting this company.

Sincerely,

Regrettably ignorant
