I as like several others have fallen victim to the capital choice consumer credit card scam. I was trying to build my credit because I do not have any. I applied for several different major credit cards and I was turned down for insufficient credit history. I found a website for consumer choice,I was informed on the website that this card was backed by a major bank and accepted nationwide.I applied for the card and was approved, they sent an official looking form in the mail stating I was pre-approved for a platinum credit card. Naturally I was enthuised that I was automatically approved for a $5000 limit. I had my girlfriend send a check from her checking account for $43.00 to "PROCESS"(RIP ME OFF) my account.

About a month later I recived a piece of plastic made to resemble a credit card with a catalog of overpriced s**t with large down payments. I tried to use the card at several different buisnesses and all of them declined it.

About a month after I recived the card my girlfriend's account(that I am not on) was billed electronically three separate charges one for $99,and two for $39. I tracked the $39 charges to a long distance calling card called 1000 Minute Mega Saver, and $99to a Hartford Auto Club. The scammers withdrew money from the checking account through these legit buisnesses with no authorization in writting or varbally. They took the account number off of the paper check (illegally) that was sent to apply for the card. Since they withdrew money from the account without any notification it has caused us quite a bit of financial problems (bounced checks for example).

I have tried to contact the company(s) that charged the account and was unable to contact the long distance provider. I was able to contact the Hartford Auto Club by their toll free number from the bank statement. The guy I talked to said his name was Alex. he was very vague about dealing with my problem or giving me information about the company, all he would tell me was that they did customer service for different companys. Finally Alex said that he had started an investigation and would notify me by mail within 15 buisness days of what he had found. If that is what they call customer service then I will never be their customer.

I have read several other peoples' rip off reports and most of them share striking similarities such as,the promise of a card backed by a major bank but when you get the card it is you find out you can only use it through the mail out of their overpriced catalog with high down payments when placing an order,High credit limits and promises of debt consolidation no matter what your credit history.

BEWARE OF THESE EMPTY PROMISES THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY

AND YOUR IDENTITY

YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK

If you have fallen victim to this scam there are several things that MUST be done to prevent them from ripping you off more and ruining your credit history by STEALING YOUR IDENTITY or anyone else that is associated with this scam through you.

1)Close your bank account(s)and open a new account, also cancel any credit cards that the scammers may have been given information from.

2)Change your Social Security Number,If you applied for this card then the scammers have it too.

3)Check all of your statements and investigate any unknown or unauthorized charges

4)If you have any unexplainable charges try to contact the buisness(s) that charged you because they are usually legit.
Inform them of your situation. Make it a point to stress that you are taking legal action and their name will be given to the courts in an attempt to retrieve your stolen money.

5)File a case in your local small claims court making sure to include all expenses(lawyer, bounced checks, charges to your account, etc.)

6)File your own personal RIP OFF report and tell everyone you see about this scam to prevent more people from becoming a victim
