It is Friday,May 3 and I was solicited on the telephone regarding an online application. The first customer representative informed me I had a $2500 limit for a MasterCard and only a $19.95 fee. I am used to processing fees, no big deal. I asked him his name, address, telephone number and that the later mention fees of $59.95 and $99.95 I am not obligated to pay in order to have a MasterCard. The rep told me "no". Then I was transferred to another rep to give billing information via an automated system with the rep listening in for questions and discrepencies. Upon going through the system it stated the extra $59.95 and $99.95 would be obligatory and billed to your account and did I agree or disagree.

I said I did not and he came online then revealing that it was a pay as you go (What the hell is that?)and that the extra fees would be set up to be taken out of your checking account. The rep proceeded to get sassy and not remove my information. I requested a supervisor and he did the same, not listening to me. I had to state over six times I did not want any fees taken out or to participate. I asked how I could be certain and the supervisor told me i had his word and that he was removing my inforamation.

The two reps were Larry Sadler and a Brian in customer care division. The supervisor's name was Scott Lisk. Larry Sadler gave me the company information and his extension is 0684. I will report further if money starts disappearing in these amounts. I checked the website and it is different and mentions nothing of this pay as you go plan etc. It is however one of those telemarketing travel gimmicks. They kept trying to get me to accept something regarding airline tickets and hotels. Please watch out.

The other 80% ..?? part II

One more possibility where are the other 80%.

"According a Daily Register article:
Thursday, May 9, 2002
ELDORADO - An Eldorado farm mortgage company is having a problem with a telemarketing outfit using their name to offer people bogus credit cards.

Capital First Corporation, a legitimate company based in Eldorado and affiliated with the First State Bank of Eldorado, has been swamped with angry callers who say they have been contacted by telemarketers to purchase a zero percent annual percentage rate credit card for a membership fee of $99.95 to $200 and a $19.95 handling fee.
...................
Capital First does not issue credit cards, McGrew said.
...................
Capital First has received more than 70 calls from angry people who have had money taken out of their accounts, McGrew said. None have been from Saline County, but calls have come from throughout the United States. She said the calls began April 11 and have gradually grown in frequency."

Dear Cust Serv Rep, let me break your (naive, ignorant?) assumption. The other 80% are not the happy people, but the people who
a/ were unable to reach you (have you ever tried to call your numbers?)

b/ people who gave up after recognizing the fraud

c/ people who - I am very happy to inform you - already get back their money from their banks.
(In a mysterious way US and Canadian banks, police, FBI, FTC have a missconception that your business is fraudulent. Do you mind to drop them a note defending Capital First?)

You would be more convincing by showing
a/ ONE happy customer, who got a Master Card after rebuilding credit with your membercard.
(Or any business accepting you, as credit reference.)

b/ ONE customer who got a refund from you.(And the check did not bounced.)

c/ ONE customer who got any service from you.

But maybe I am too demanding. I would be happy even to see one FAKE positive testimony somewhere in the Internet...

um...NOT a scam? ..If you truly do work for the company, then you're either too stupid to know it's a scam, or you do know, which makes you worse than stupid...it makes you a thief.

Ok...I have problems believing the "customer service rep" for CapitalFirst who posted is actually a rep for CapitalFirst. I mean, if we were going to hear from the company...don't you think it would be more of an "official" statement?

As far as being informed of everything, that is entirely and utterly untrue. I too, was told there would be a 0% interest $2500 limit credit card. I was told it would cost $99/yr. I thought that wasn't bad, as I could transfer balances from higher-interest cards, and the $99 would get covered that way. NEVER was I informed that it was a "pay-as-you-go" card. NEVER was I informed that I'd be getting a ridiculous booklet about how I am now a member of some discount club (with an application for the card, should I want it...I originally agreed to the card, not the discount club).

You say only 20% of calls get thru, and you ASSUME the other 80% are happy customers? Get real. Who has (or takes) the time to call a company to say, "hi, just wanted to let you know that I'm really happy with your company."? I called (when the $59 and $99 were deducted from my account the day after I received my package...NOT giving me the 7 days I was told I would get (do you think I was told that too? that the $ would be taken out early, even though I was told 7 days?))...and I got the same crap everybody here got. Somebody who told me all customer service reps were busy, and somebody would call me back. That was...2 weeks ago. Here's a hint. I'M NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. And I'm not one of the 20% who got through.

Get a clue. Get a life. Get a real job that doesn't involve preying on those of us who work hard for our $, who may have had problems in the past and are trying to legitimately rebuild our credit.

If you truly do work for the company, then you're either too stupid to know it's a scam, or you do know, which makes you worse than stupid...it makes you a thief.

How Capital First s NOT a scam

I would like to thank ripoffreport.com for giving disgruntled adults a place to vent their steam...as a customer service rep i am used to hearing many customers who think this is a scam. Unlike what most people think we here at Customer Service only receive about 20 % of our clients's calls, and as you guessed all our negative...

Our assumption is the other 80% is happy with our service. I'm sorry for the people who think we "take" their money. We provide a service that rebuilds credit in a very quick manner.

This memo is to anyone who thinks this is a scam. Also a word to the wise....Listen to every last detail before agreeing to them because we mention everything we are about in verfication.
Thank You
