WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR WITH CAPITAL HONDA 745 W. CAPITAL EXPRESSWAY, SAN JOSE, CA.

On 11/28/06, I hade made the biggest mistake of my life. I had decided to trade in my PERFECT running Chevy Z-71 4X4, to purchase a "family vehicle, so me and my husband decided to trade our truck in for a Landrover Discovery at Capital Honda. Now 5 months later and a mere 6,000 miles later I am faced with a nightmare.

I went to have the 60,000 mile service tune-up on my vehicle with Landrover and now Landrover has told me that they have bad news. my Landrover has coolant and oil leakage and the Head Engine Block needs replacing. After finding this out my husband and I went over to talk to Capital Honda's service manager Ed Warren, we got nowhere with him.

He was automatically very hostile, defensive and rude to me and my husband. Ed Warren was so hostile with me and he stick his fingers in my face four times shouting that he would not do anything for us because we did not purchase an extended warranty, and that this was not his problem.

My question/comment to MR. ED is this; you're saying we should have purchased the extended warranty? Well if you believed in the vehicles you were selling in the first place, that are supposedly checked with your 100 point check inspection, why should I have purchased the extended warranty. Is it because customers should not trust your salesmen or is it that your repair department is also lousy and dishonest and ignored the leakage in the first place, and didn't care if it became someone else's problem?

My husband was also told that oil seepage is normal and that Honda does not need to disclose this to its customer. It's not like we pull these cars in and put them on a block and inspect them quoted from the director of used car sales. Mr. Ed Warren never offered us a solution he just walked away angrily from us. Is this how Honda takes care of its cutomers. There slogan "We make it easy" Easy to do what, easy to lie and mislead their customers.

I guess I was naive for believing in a bunch of lying, dishonest people. I was lead to believe that this car was in terrific condition, I had nothing to worry about and that it had passed Honda's 100 point check list, and that I was making a wise choice in purchasing this vehicle.

Funny how my vehicle I traded in sold overnight to one of your salesmen. Lucky guy he got a terrific vehicle, and I ended up with garbage.

Yes, I realize I purhased a used vehicle, and this definetly will be the first and the last time I do. I am just overall disatisfied with the LACK of customer service with Capital Honda. I still stand by the fact that they are RUDE, I will never recomend buying a USED or NEW car from them.

I decided to trade in that used and problematic Landrover, at the Landrover dealership where it was being repaired, and purchase a "new vehicle". They took the problem of my hands and gave me a fair trade in price. Bottom line I was not looking for anything free, I just expeced better customer service from Capital Honda.

My brother said I could have his 4 year old, paid off, discovery for like $9000 when retail was $16,00. Before I entered into the deal, I did some research. Those vehicles are famous for problems after a few years and famous for being expensive to keep and maintain. I think his had 55k+ plus miles on it. I said thanks, but no thanks. ANY british vehicles are known for that. Should have bought a new pilot or an accord for a "family vehicle". If you'd done some research, you would've found the info.

Why should you have bought an extended warranty?

Why should you have bought an extended warranty? I'll spell it out for you.

1- You bought a Landrover at a HONDA dealership. Honda is not capable of servicing Landrovers, so obviously it did not get a thorough service up to factory specifications. It may have passed Honda's 100 point check but IT IS NOT A HONDA so obviously that check is not adequate.

2- The Landover was not only USED, but had high mileage which means that it was out of manufacturer's warranty (aka - it had NO warranty, it was sold "as is"). Why would you buy such an expensive used vehicle with high mileage and NOT buy a warranty to protect it?

3- You never bothered to have this USED car inspected by a private mechanic prior to buying it. Therefore, it would make sense to at the very least get an extended warranty to cover future problems, rather than take it off the lot "as is" and assume it will be perfect. USED CARS WITH 60,000 MILES ARE RARELY IF EVER PERFECT.

Jennifer,

Using the mileage you you supplied, the vehicle had 54,000 miles at the time of purchase. The vehicle was out of FACTORY warranty. No where did you state the dealership implied that the vehicle would always be free from defects and you will never have a worry. Also, even the service manager was an a*s, you did not have a extended warranty. Did you expect him to fix your vehicle free of charge? after 5 months and 6000 miles? You fail to forget that you bought a machine that wears out, it is rated one the least reliable vehicles with one of the highest cost of repairs, and it was a used vehicle.

YOU must be a USED car sales man, if you are condoning lying to a customer in order to make a sale. I don't beleive it is right to be lied to and the likelihood of a car to have major problems occuring in a mere 3 months is not very likely, unless there were pre-existing problems that the dealer intentionally did not disclose. I hope the saying is true that what goes around comes around.

A used car is still a used car

I'm sure it had the big white sticker on it, required by law, that states that it is offered as is, where is with all faults. ITS A USED CAR!!! Why do people complain after they bought one? Do you think taking a used car should be a risk free move? Of course a salesman will tell you anything he thinks will close the deal. Talk means nothing. The 100 point inspection? Well, something could fail the next day. Its just another selling slogan. It doesn't eliminate the riskiness of buying a used vehicle.
