Early on Wed. morning, April 12, between the wee hours of 2 and 3 am, the repo guys came and took the car my wife and I use here in NJ.

My father, who lives abroad, has been paying CapOne Auto since 2001. All payments have come to CapOne via his credit union stateside. Upon learning of the repossession, my father contacted the credit union, who confirmed that all payments had been made and cashed by CapOne.

My father called a CapOne rep. in California because the one in TX could not be reached. The rep. in Cali apologized (surprise) and said that they would sort the situation out. As of yesterday, my father was told that the whole situation is his fault, and that he will have to pay all fees associated with this repossession and his account.

The timing of this is what is truly baffling. My wife and I have applied, and been approved for a loan to pay off the remaining balance so that we can get the title and register the car in the state of NJ.

CapOne was informed of this pending payoff.

My father's account is up to date according to his bank statements.

How in the hell can they repossess this vehicle?
