I got a car loan from Capital One Auto Finance on May 15, 2002. My 1st payment was due on June 15th but I never received an account statement or coupon book or any type of reminder. I took the iniative to send the 1st payment to the address that was on my car loan contract. It was a Sacramento, CA address. I called the automated service on the 19th of June and it stated that my payment was late. When I spoke with a rep I was told that the Sacramento, CA address was not Capital One, had never been Capital One and they did not know who was at that address. I asked them why they car dealership had that for their address and the rep stated that he did not know. He advised me to send another check to keep my account from going into default. I sent another check that same day. I was surprised when my checks in my account started bouncing. Capital One did receive mail at the Sacramento address and had cashed both checks that cost me $75 worth of overdraft fees. I talked with them about this and they acknowledged their error but refused to reimburse me. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and they refuse to respond to them. Capital One is trying to say I meant to send 2 months' payment at one time which is untrue. Now my other bills are behind because they took money from the account with the 1st check that they swore they would never receive. Capital One is the Enron of the financial service sector and nothing more than glorified loan sharks. This is obviously a greedy company that lacks, integrity, honor and character when dealing with its customers. I advise anyone out there to never do business with them at all LaSonia Calera, Alabama

I have had no problems with them at all

I have my current loan through with Capital One, and I have had no problems with them at all. I have my car payment taken out automatically, which I find extremely helpful, and that may be what some people may need to do.It may be different if I didn't have the payment deducted this way. I don't know.

The paperwork got here in a timely manner, along with the blank check and everything was spelled out for me.

There was a problem with the interest rate in that they quoted me a rate and then gave me a higher one. But, after making a couple phone calls, that was taken care of pretty quickly.

Although I have a bankruptcy in my history that is still on my credit report and still affects me, Capital One was the lowest interest rate I got, and they took very little time on qualifying me.

All of my questions are easliy answered either online or on the phone.

Luckily, my experience with this company has been positive, unlike my experiences with banks that I have had car loans through.

The Sacramento address that was listed on the original contract is the address for DEALERS to send titles to. It is not a Capital One address, but rather the address for a company we use to handle our titling. It is not, nor has it ever been an address to send payments to.

If you or anyone ever has any questions about where to send your payment to, I suggest you get our customer service phone number off of Capitaloneautofinance.com. I know that may be an off the wall suggestion, but we can't be blamed for considering a payment late and charging a late charge when (big surprise) the payment IS late because you didn't think to call Capital One and ask for the address to send to.

I am a Capital One Auto Finance customer, no other bank gave me credit for my brand new car of course for my not so good or terrible credit.

When the time came for my first payment I hadnt received any payment coupon, but I received a letter from Capital One Auto Finance with all their information, it stated clearly that if by the time of the payment I had no received the coupon to send at their address and that if I had any questions to call their customer service number, I called got the address and I didnt have any problem with my payment arriving at their office. Now each month I receive my account payment coupon and I am very satisfied with Capital One Auto Finance, I am sorry for any inconvenience anybody gone through.

There are a few things to address here:

At the time of the contract signing at the dealership, the dealership will sometimes use a specific or generic contract. They send the contract for approval to various lenders based upon your scoring, ex. Prime or sub-prime. Never use the address on the contract to send payments. The dealership was able to get the approval through this company (Capital One). Once the dealership gets a deal approved, you are nothing to them. They got what they wanted. Also, statements are a courtesy, not a right.

In reading the report above, I can't help but wonder why you were able to call the automated system (which can link to customer service), but why you did not contact a customer service rep for the address. Also, there is no reason that a number could not be found on the internet to or call 800# directory assistance (800) 555-1212.

Also, if there is a missing payment, then a stop payment should be put on that one before another one was sent. That would only make sense to me. It was not Capital One's error for your mistake.

Hopefully this will help future readers to look at who's fault it really is.

MY POINT OF VIEW

I HAVE ONLY WORKED FOR THIS COMPANY FOR A FEW MONTHS BUT HAVE ENJOYED MY JOB.

YOU HAVE TO UNDERSTAND WE ARE A COMPANY THAT GIVES PEOPLE A SECOND OR THIRD CHANCE IN LIFE.

MOST OF OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE HORRIBLE CREDIT, BANKRUPTCIES, REPOS IN THE PAST OR HAVE NO ONE ELSE THAT WILL GIVE THEM A LOAN FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER.

I FEEL IF YOU GET A COMPANY THAT IS WILLING TO HELP YOU RE-ESTABLISH YOUR CREDIT WHILE DRIVING A NICE CAR IN THE PROCESS YOU SHOULD GO OUT OF YOUR WAY TO KEEP UP ON YOUR PAYMENTS AND DO RIGHT BY THIS COMPANY WHICH IN TURN IS HELPING YOU IN THE LONG RUN.

WE UNDERSTAND WHEN PEOPLE RUN INTO PERSONAL AND FINANCIAL TROUBLE AND HAVE PAYMENT PLANS TO HELP THEM CATCH UP. WE HAVE DEFERMENTS IF YOU ARE ELIGIBLE AND WILL CHANGE YOUR DUE DATE IF IT WILL HELP YOU MAKE YOUR PAYMENTS ON TIME.

I UNDERSTAND WE CAN BE HARSH AND SEEM UNFAIR BUT THE CUSTOMERS WE HAVE I AT LEAST TREAT WITH RESPECT, DIGNITY AND EMPATHY FOR THEIR SITUATIONS.

I GO OUT OF MY WAY TO HELP THEM WITH WHATEVER MEANS IM ALLOWED WHILE LISTENING TO THEM TELL ME THEIR PROBLEMS AND HOW THEY GOT INTO THE SITUATIONS THEY ARE IN.

I FEEL FOR THEM BUT WHEN THEY CONTINUALLY FALL BEHIND OR JUST STOP PAYING IT IS NOT OUR FAULT IF THINGS GET A LITTLE ROUGH FOR THEM. THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE GETTING INTO WHEN THEY SIGNED ON WITH US.

SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS BUT MY BUTTON IS STUCK. THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO LET YOU HEAR THE OTHER SIDE.
