Capital One agreed to waive a monthly membership fee when contacted in December 2004 and to waive the fee for the following 12 months. In May, 2005, I had to contact them because the adjustment fee was applied late and I was hit with finance charges and a late fee. The customer service rep reversed teh late fee but not the finance charges. June 2005, I call AGAIN and this time the finance charges are credited back. July 2005, I go in to apply for a mortgage and find out Capital One has reported account as past due. I call customer service and am transferred to a "supervisor" who tells me the account has been past due since December. I ask why no late fee until My and get a lame excuse. She tells me there is nothing they can do so I tell her to cancel this and 3 other Capital One accounts. Be very wary of Capital One. There is a letter headed to the CEO and Virginia BBB and Attorney General.
