Capital One Financial has preyed on lower middle class people with poor to bad credit, by offering to rebuild their credit. I had filed Bankruptcy and was looking to rebuild my credit Capital One extended credit card offers to myself and my wife, promising to rebuild our credit. Capital One issued four credit cards in our names 2 Visas and 2 Master cards each with limits ranging from $350 to $1000. After accepting these offers we began to use their services once the balances had reached there limits is when the issues began a late payment resulted in a late fee which in turn resulted in an over the limit fee. The minimum payment jumped from twenty-five dollars to over $100 not being able to pay this amount these charges continued to recur every month. Long story short Capital One has  since began to sue me civilly adding more fees and charges ruining my credit even more making it impossible to access my equity in my home or any other lines of credit to pay off these predatory lenders. They have attached liens on my home and have garnished my wages. I have three children and finding it hard to make ends meet as it is. These Capital One Cards have went from $300 to over $1800 the $1000 limit is currently at $5,900. Is there any help out there for honest hard working people being preyed upon by these Predatory Lenders.

#2Consumer Suggestion

Wed, February 17, 2010

I have a suggestion: stop using the credit cards! If you just filed bankruptcy and were looking to rebuild your credit, that's fine. But why accept FOUR credit cards?? Just because they offered didn't mean you need to accept. I suspect that your bankruptcy was due, in part, to consumer loans and credit cards that you couldn't pay back (since you didn't mention medical bills or other unusual circumstances). Didn't you learn anything from that experience?  If you're using credit cards just to make ends meet, you need to change what you're doing. This isn't a rip ff. It's just bad budgeting on your part.
