Capital One ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing late bills late fees Richmond Virginia
I opened a account with Capital one after going through a bankruptcy. They are a large credit provider and to my knowledge (at that time) legitimite. My starting credit line was only $250, annual fee of $49, APR was 18.9%. I knew this was a high interest rate but planned on only charging a few minor purches then paying off right away. I needed to do something to reastablish my credit, they assured me that after establishing my credit with them I could apply for higher credit limits and lowered interest rates.
Well they were fine for about 4 months then all of a sudden I was getting my bills later and later. I started having to call them to get my statement in time to make my payment in time. They would offer to direct debit my checking account for my payment. Then they wold wait till after my payment date to post my payment, then charge me a $29 late fee. I started spending hours on the phone with them every month. After arguuing with them about their failure to mail statments in a timely manner and their failure in not posting the payments in time, I accrued about $100 in late fees. Then the started charging me $29 a month for over-the-limit fees.
I closed the account and spent over the next year fighting with them. Due to a class action law suit that was filed at the time I was offered to either join the class action law suit (which can drag on for years, tying up my credit) or to go through a 3rd party mediator. I chose mediation. It then took another 6 months to negotiate with them to drop about half of the fees. I paid the balance in full, with a money order. I finally thought I had closure with them. Then they started sending me notices that I was going to be referred to their legal dept for non-payment of the negotiated balance. I spent another 6 months getting that straitened out, and to this day I am being denied credit in large part because of them. And they still send me their credit card offers telling me I have been pre-approved!!!

This is a response to my comment, capital one harassed me for one year for a charge-off account from a previouse account due to me not being able to pay due to financial difficulties the account became a charge-off due to me know longer me being able to pay on it.I found this account on my credit files a year after my account became a charge-off.Capital one never notified me in the mail that they have purchased my charged-off account instead went SNICKY & placed it on my credit file, i could not get anything done with capital ones rep. because of their rude & nasty tons being all disrepectful toward me capital one never provided proof that they purchased this account & began to harass me anyways, these people do not care if you have money problems they will harass you anways they will do whatever it takes to take advantage of you or to scam you out of all your money.I will never open up a credit card account again you never know when you will have financial difficulties in life which makes it harder for you to pay your credit cards or other bills you have to servive on, capital one makes you feel that you don't deserve to live they make you feel like your SCUM because you have had a charge off account this type of harassment is agaisnt the law & you can sue them if a lawyer takes the case life is hard enough without dealing with these ruthless & scum people, capital one people are the real scum does not give a rats a*s about your feelings or your financial difficulties!.

I,to have dealt with capital one myself this past year they claim that they have purchased a credit card account that i had back in 2001,they said that my credit card company had sold my account to capital one i was not aware of this till 11/03 of last year.They,claim they bought it back in 12/02,but waited a year almost before placing it on my credit file i had to deal with there rudeness and thoughtless employee's this past year in trying to tell them that my other credit card company still say's that i owe them the money but capital one just ignored me about that part and still said i owed them.My,previous credit card company recently turned that account over to an collection agency and put it on my credit file has an collection account and the collection agency said i owed them "NOT CAPITAL ONE" so i don't know where capital one is getting that i owe them money because i didn't open a credit card account with them nor did i purchase anything on there credit card still they insisted that they purchased the account,and two they said they will place it with another collection agency along with the other collection reporting the same dept how are they allowed to place the same dept twice?... capital one has harassed me for the entire year to get me to pay them i'am not pay two company's the same dept. capital one has been rude to me about this problem and i do "NOT APPERICATE" them talking down to me about this because i haven't done anything and trying to force me to pay a bill that i don't owe them truth to be told i wish i never got a credit card in the first place if this is was i was going to deal with later other company's trying to make me pay them recently these i decided to pay capital one i complained to the BBB about this problem but they have giving be nothing but a hard time telling me that my creditor doesn't need my permission in selling account's they kepted ignoring the fact that my other creditor still say's i owe them the money,i got capital one to settle for only half of what the depted was owed i wasn't going to pay them the full amount from how rude they have been to me i shouldn't of had paid them but to keep my credit from getting any worser from them placing the account to my credit file i decided to pay them so a long line of late charge's wouldn't be posting to my credit file.About a month after,me paying capital one i decided to apply for a credit card with them i made a mistake they turned me down for credit after me paying them they turned me down i was "PISSED" at them for what they turned after hassling me for a year to pay them they had the nerve to turn me down and to top it all of this whole year they been checking my credit without my permission so they already knew what was in my credit report and then they turned be down after i applied giving them permission to check my credit there account on my credit file has screwed me into getting another credit card even with them after i paid them and settled the account they still turned me down!.I,will not apply for another credit card with them because they will just turn me down they have "PISSED" me off to much making me pay them and then turned me down for a credit card i'am so tired of having to deal with rude people in company's like this! and i will not put up with it they can have the sticken money for all i care after what they have put me threw with this account! there nothing but "LOWLIFE SCUMBAG'S!"
