Capital One Visa Card Changed bill due date w/o consulting me. Charged late fee. Said late fee was removed, but continued to charge late fee. Capital One Virginia
On March 4, 2009, I wrote the following to Cap One:
For the last three months I have had to call to have the late fee removed from my bill for this Visa card. Every person I have talked with acknowledged that I should not be charged this exorbitant $39.00 late fee.
Last month I was called by three different Capital One people to tell me that I owed more than I paid and that I must make up the difference immediately. Each time I explained that I had already called about having the late fee removed from my bill. I also asked that your employees start talking with each other so that I would not be bothered with something I had already handled.
Again, I have the $39.00 late fee, which I do not owe and I have NO intention of paying!!!
DO SOMETHING!!! I have more important things to do than go over this every friggin' month.
On May 30, 2009, I wrote the following to Cap One:
Regarding this account, please send me an itemized statement showing that I have a past due amount.
If you can prove to me that I do indeed have an outstanding amount due, I will pay it. But, as I have explained and explained and explained, in November of 2008 I learned that a Capital 1 employee arbitrarily changed my due date to the 1st of the month. I was not consulted as to whether or not this date was convenient for me. The first of the month is NOT convenient for me. I rely totally on Social Security for my income and I do not receive my payment until the 3rd of each month. From this time on, I have had nothing but aggravation!
On November 5, 2008, I talked with a Specialist, Cindy, who said she would remove the $39.00 late fee, and I paid $63.00 on the phone. On April 4, 2009, I talked with Alan in Collections who said he would remove the $39.00 late fee, and I paid $120.00 on the phone. No matter how many times I've been told the late fee has been removed, it keeps popping up on every (bleep)ing bill.
At this time, I have been paying interest on these past-due amounts, even though they have been removed. PLEASE, PLEASE TALK TO EACH OTHER. PLEASE, PLEASE LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHTENED OUT ONCE AND FOR ALLLLLL.
In response I received a letter from Cap One telling me that my due date was being changed, again, and explaining how and why a late fee was charged. Essentially, I received a non-response. I have written to the CEO in Falls Church, VA, but do not expect to receive any more satisfaction than I 've already received.
