I have 2 capital one (visa) cards. I do not use either one of them. Seems like everytime you make a payment or (late) the payments does not apply to your line of credit. Why do so much goes on finance charges? Capital one visa, i refuse to make anymore payments. Kmart visa (capital one) I make minimum payments and we no longer have a kmart in our city. I ask them how do we use the kmart card and they said they are thinking about what to do with the customers that has this cards.

I looked at my statement and this is what is going on. Minimum payment is 15.00 per month (a) kmart purchase finance charge- 2.79 (b) cash - 4.29 . I have been making payments for a few months and I only have 28.00 on my kmart card. This is out of sight out of mind card. Even though I do have creditor calls and letters. Tell me how can we respond to this overcharging company. Do mess with this CAPITAL "ONE".

misunderstood-my credit limit is 400-500 dollars. the amount of unused credit is at least 28.00 on my kmart visa. capital one visa i just paying on, with a overdue balance of a least 600.00. if and when i decide to pay them off, believe me they will no longer get my business. they keep saying they are going to report my account to the credit bureau, but yet still offering me a chance to pay them off. I DO NOT CARE ANY LONGER. i pay the minimum because that is all i can afford, i am a part-time worker as of this date. i put money on kmart card for gas purposes and emergency. THANK GOD ... i haven't had any emergencies, then i be over the balance.

If the card has the VISA logo on the front, you could use it at almost any store, not just K-mart. But why would you want to? If the balance is only $28, you should be in a position to pay it off and be rid of it. Take the balance, add whatever they charge every month, plus a few dollars extra and send in that payment. Then call them and cancel it right away before they can slap another monthly charge on it. Follow up your call with a letter (certified mail) where you include the card cut in half and a request to "close this account immediately and refund the credit balance" (the few dollars extra you sent in).

Most cards are set up so just paying the minimum payment is never enough to make a difference in the balance. There's no law that requires the minimum payment to be enough to pay off the debt in a reasonable time, or ever. Always pay much more than the minimum; pay the full balance whenever possible.
