Capital Showcase produces Home and Garden shows in various fairgrounds in three Counties in California.

I purchased a $800 booth at the show in Alameda County in October 2004 and the show was great, my business took off and everything was great. I was told at the show that there was another contractor who ad been at the show for 13 years and was good friends with the owners of the show.

In December 2004, I called the show producers trying to reserve a booth for the February show and was told that it was sold out.

In April 2005 I started calling he shows producers was told that they were on the phone, out of the office, or busy and the receptionist would take a message. I left over 20 messages three emails and never received a response.

In August 2005, I had my wife call without using our company name or her last name. She was connected directly to Kari, the shows producer by the receptionist. My wife was told that she had plenty of spaces and Kari started setting up for her to rent a booth. My wife was asked the company name which she gave and Kari told her "I cannot rent you a booth". Kari would not say why except that the owner Robert would give her an explanation.

My wife was sent to Robert who never answered and has not returned any calls.

This company Capital Showcase is bias against certain companies and possibly minority owned businesses. There is 50 builders, 20 landscapers and other companies that all get along at the show. I have a specialty business and there are only two similar companies in the entire region and one is good friends with the owner and has exclusive rights to the 10-20 thousand attendees. Our business will suffer because we base our yearly profits on the home and garden show.
