In late December or early January I received a call from Capital Vacations offering discount coupons for airfare, travel and shopping. A free long distance trial from Stay In Touch was also offered, with the option of cancelling if I decided to.

The company said the materials were on their way for my preview, but they never came. I still have not received anything from Capital Vacations, but they sure as heck received something from me...a deduction of $59.95 from my account, posting as TAID.

As for Stay In Touch long distance, I finally received their confirmation letter offering me 7 DAYS OF FREE CALLING on January 22, 2004. That's 2 days after my trial period ended, on January 20, 2004. And they too deducted funds from my account in the amount of $49.95, theirs posting as Stay In Touch.

I placed a stop payment on Stay In Touch so that I could get to the bottom of this. Now I need to do the same for TAID, or Capital Vacations. It's very pathetic that companies out there are willing to rip-off consumers who are willing to try their product(s). I hope these two companies go down, and if there are others out there who are willing to put up a case against them, I read on another Rip-off Report that someone's lawyer said there is a way to be recompensated for all our trouble. Check it out.
