It took me three calls to close my account. I finally received my confirmation that the account was closed three months after I made my first call. These people are snakes.

How long does it take Capitol One or any credit card co to close your account when they decide you are unworthy ??? Do they give you a three month grace period, or notice before closing your account ???? Closed means CLOSED right now. No ifs, ands, or butts about it.

I think they wait 3 months.

I think they wait 3 months before your account is actually closed to make sure no more charges go through. I think you have to have 3 billing cycles with a zero balance before they will close the account.

Look at it this way, back in the old days, people were closing their accounts when they got behind so any transactions they really made were returned "account closed" and they could deal with those at a later date. Credit card companies and banks have had to change their ways so this no longer happens. Of course, it really affects those who do nothing wrong.

The only real bummer with this practice is when you close an account because a company refuses you cancel your subscription to something and keeps debiting that account. You now cannot even close your account to keep that from happening.
