My husband and I received a phone message last evening 10/27/03 from Deborah Jamison. She left her phone number and extension, but gave no indication as to what she wanted or what company she represented. Since we are refinancing our home, we thought that we should return the call in case it had to do with the signing the papers or something like that and it is a toll free number.

Of course, as in all the similar reports that I've read on this website, come to find out she's after a debt that is 15 years old, that is if it is our debt at all! We still must do some research on that.

What is scaring me is that when I went to look up CAMCO, the Ripoff reports are the first to come up! I'm trying to understand how a debt, after it has been written off by a company can come back to haunt you later on?!

Deborah informed me that she could not research on whether the debt had actually belonged to us and/or if it had been paid previously, because she would have to search the internet and she had way too many phone calls to make to meet her quota. She also "just wanted to let us know that the amount we owed for them to be satisfied was approximately $200.00 and that amount would accrue interest. How in the world does a dead debt accrue interest!

It isn't bad enought that we have struggled at times with finances, that now we have to have these jerks threaten our credit?!?!

Some people have claimed that CAMCO has even called their neighbors in order to try and get ahold of them. Yea, ok, that's what I want, my whole neighborhood to hunt me down for an old, if not false debt. Isn't there some privacy issues being violated here?
