I recieved a Capitol One card February 2004. All went well until I could not make one payment. I paid the late charge. I did not recieve a bill in November. They called me in December and offered me a deal that if I paid more, I would not be counted late and the amount would take me down to $200 which was well below the $300 limit. I did not recieve a bill in January. Today when I talked to them, they told me that I owe $400. I got hit with two late charges and 2 overage charges. When I explained that was impossible, I was told that was what I owed. I told them to send me the bill and to kill the card.

They informed me that they will not do that until I have paid all the late and overage charges and the amount owed. In the meantime, I will be billed for another overage amount if I do not pay enough to bring it down below 300 on my next payment. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! I am surprised they are even allowed to do business with this kind of practice. Now, if I don't pay, my credit is completely ruined! All I can do is keep paying and hope someday to pay them off.
