I recieved a Capital One Visa card and a Capital One Master card both with $200 limits. I had just moved to a new residence and found myself overwelmed with debt.

I enrolled in a dept management program. As advised by the program I contacted all of my creditors with my correct mailing address and started receiving statements from my creditors except Capital One.

I received a letter from Capital One stating that after the first 4 on time payments they would stop charging me past due fees and my balances would start dropping. I assumed because they sent me this letter everything was ok. I have been on this dept management program for 2 years now and I called Capital One to see what my balance was so I could finally pay it off.

Lo and Behold my balances went from $200 on each card to over $600 on each card. They have been charging my card late fees for the last 2 years. After calling Capital One I found out that they never changed my address so at this time I gave them the new address.

I was told by the dept councelor to call Capital One to discuss a payoff and found yet again that they still had not changed my address. Isn't there anything that can be done to stop what these credit card companies are doing? If Capital One had changed my address 2 years ago this could all have been avoided. Don't credit card companies have to take any responsibility for there employees actions?
