Car-Mart Ripoff! Rude, Dishonest, Attempted to take advantage. Searcy Arkansas
I purchased my 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis just days before my wedding. My wife and I went out of town for a bit on our honeymoon. When I initially purchased the vehicle I put $500.00 down and paid out the remainder of the down payment every other week as planned.
Within the first month of purchasing the vehicle the fan clutch went out and the engine overheated, the vehicle now looses about a quart of oil each week. When the vehicle was purchased, I had just sold my Chevy Suburban to come up with what small down payment I had.
I drove the car off the lot with bald tires, almost no brakes (warped rotors too), a pretty nasty miss in the engine, and alignment that pulled hard right all the time. My mechanic told me that the vehicle had previously been wrecked as there was some frame damage that had not been properly repaired, nor had the rest of the car.
I had recently lost my job, thank goodness for savings, and make arrangements to pay lesser payments until i had found a job, no problem, When the payments went back up, they skipped a week on our agreement and went right to it, I immediately drained the remainder of my savings, leaving my payment 3 dollars shy of having that payment made in full.
I talked to the manager (Adam Kimbrough) and he said that it would be ok for me to add that three dollars to the next payment seeing that i had just begun a new job. He calls my home 2 days later demanding the three dollars and a late fee or he was personally going to come after the vehicle. How sad is that?
They should hand out Tucks Pads or Preporation "H" at the contract signing. You're going to need them if you want a vehicle from them.
