I was promised a First Choice Visa card with 0% for 1 year, along with a membership packet for, I was told then, $149.00 one time fee which would cover the processing fee and the packet. My checking account was debited for $159.90 on 7/25/01; on August 2, was debited for $14.95; on August 6 was debited $19.95.

I called Credit Services (800-950-1934); incidentally, I misplaced the phone number for this company when I initially talked to the telemarketer re: the card, so I was at a loss as to what to do. The ACH debits on my bank statement didn't give any description, but when I accessed those transactions on my computer banking it gave the ACH Debit as RKW-800-950-1934, so I guessed that the numbers may be the telephone number. It also gave the ACH debit number as BFTCLB8009501934 for other transactions.

I called Card Services to tell them I never received the card nor the benefits package and I was told that there was a problem with their mailing system and that I should be receiving it as we speak. My account was debited again on August 16 for $14.95 and on August 28 for $14.95.
I called again (in September) to let them know that I still hadn't received anything from them. They promised to send out another packet that day.
My account was debited again on September 4 for $11.95 and $14.95; it was debited again on October 11 for $11.95. I have since learned after surfing the net (which I should have done intitially) that many, many other people have fallen prey to this same company with the same results -- RECEIVING NOTHING!!

I am in the process of CLOSING my checking account to eliminate future debits. I was told that by stopping payment, they will just use another ACH identification and still continue to debit your account.

THIS IS AN OLD REPORT, BUT IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW

Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan, in a joint enforcement effort with the Federal Trade Commission closed down this operation on November 21, 2001, seized their bank accounts, records and froze all assets. The principals of the company were named in both crimimal indictments and civil lawsuits. The State of Illinois is asking for civil penalties of $50,000 for each instance of fraud. If you have not done so already, you need to file a claim with the Attorney General's office in Illinois immediately, as the statute of limitations may be nearing for you to file a claim.
