Complaint Review: Cardservice International

Cardservice International ripped me off

  • Reported By:

  • Submitted:

  • Updated:
    Sat, September 28, 2002

I told the merchant (Cardservice Int.) that I had a 1000 item shopping cart, so their gateway would have to be compatible with my cart, he asked for my web address & he then got back with me and said, the two are compatible.

I was charged $1,981 for a merchant that is not compatible with my web site.

They refuse to refund my money, they even told me to hunt down the salesperson that used to work for them & get the money from him!

Dear Larry,

I am sorry that you had a negative business experience. I do take offense that I screwed you. I fully disclosed all fees, and the length and terms of the Lease and offered a Cash price in lieu of a lease. I expect when an Individual makes a business decision and has all of the fees disclosed that they weigh the factors involved. I always responded to customer issues, assisted customers with integration issues and programing.

I also left copies of all documents, if I took the lease, I mailed you a copy of the lease. If you made a bad business decision that is a risk that you take in business.

I can't believe I actually found a post by Randall Shake. Ethics? You had absolutely none when you screwed me when your signed me up with Cardservice International. I have resolved all the "con job" related issues with Cardservice that you got me into.

What I have never been able to resolve was the BS Golden Eagle contract you told me I had to sign to get the merchant account. You convinced me that I must "lease" a virtual terminal to have my merchant account. I found out this was an absolute lie.

You conned me into signing a 48 month "lease" with Golden Eagle for a "virtual terminal" that I don't use nor does it even exist. Golden Eagle has absoluteley no involvment with any of my transactions. My online transactions go straight from my online store to First Data. It doesn't go through any "virtual terminal" with Golden Eagle.

So, this contract you conned me into signing, forces me to pay $43 a month to Golden Eagle for absolutely nothing. All Golden Eagle says is "well you signed it, too bad, now you have to pay it." They told me that you only presented it because they paid you a pretty good commission. They said it's my fault I signed it. They said I shouldn't have.

I was just starting my business and this was my first merchant account. You lied and conned me just for extra commissions.

You screwed the hell out of me. You say you had ethics? You had absolutley none. Please don't try and tell people you're honest and have ethics.

Dear James,

I am sorry that you were not given the proper Technical support that you expected. Cardservice does have a technical support email address support@cardservice.com. Also you can contact ClearCommerce for technical assistance the Linkpoint Gateway uses the Clear Commerce Merchant Hosting Engine as the basis for it's processing engine. Your Systems Administrator, or Webmaster can get the scripting needed to connect your web shopping cart. If you are using ShopSite there was an issue with Open Market who did not want to make their product compatible with Linkpoint. If you are using a website that is based on Cold Fusion, PHP, or any of the Com Languages you can purchase or ask your local office to provide you a wrapper if you are using Linkpoint API. I cannot address the specifics of your issue, but do know that many CSI Reps are not very well trained in the issues of integration and problems of incompatiability of their gateway. I have frequently helped Merchants of other offices with their problems. CSI has recently been sold to First Data Corp. who owned a 50% share in CSI. Service should improve. Sorry to hear about your problems. I spent 4 years with an Agent office, ethics was one of our strong points.

Best Regards,

Randall Shake
