Care.com Beware: Deceptive automatic monthly renewal policy Internet

It is so ironic that this company is called CARE.com, because they don't really CARE about using ethical business practices with their members. We were duped into the opt out automatic renewal monthly payment for 6 months of $35/month. Congrats to Care.com for duping a member out of $310.

#1, why not make your automatic renewal an opt in process, rather than an opt out. In other words, your members have to check a box for wanting automatic renewal. #2, how difficult would it be to send an email every month to your members, reminding them that a payment is about to be processed.

Also, use some common sense.........it is obvious to see that I haven't even logged on to the care.com site in about 6 months.....so why would I pay $35 a month for a service that I'm not even using? Care.com, google search "Care.com automatic renewal" and you will see lots of complaints from other members as well. If you want to stay in business, change your automatic renewal "policy".

The problem is not the "deceptiveness" of their auto-renewal policy, because they disclose the policy in the terms and conditions that you agree to when you hand over your credit card information and sign up.  The real issue is YOUR inattentiveness and you feel that those terms must apply to everyone else except you?

That's right...it is YOUR lack of attention.  You see you want them to notify you before a charge will be made to the account.  Okay..say your right.  Well answer this then.  Why should anyone expect you to pay attention to those notices when you obviously fail to monitor your bank account(s)?  After all it was 6 months before you noticed it.  This means that for 6 months you have zero idea what is being charged to your account, real theives could be robbing you blind and you won't know it.

Oh and one other thing.  You can search for "(any web company) auto renewal" and see complaint after complaint, so this is not unique.  But you will also find another common thread, the people complaining are just like you..they don't take the time to actually monitor and reconcile their accounts.   The funny thing is that none of those companies have changed their policies either.
