I applied for a CareCredit account through my dentist as I needed to save a tooth at $1800 a pop. I was promised that no interest would be charged. Once the tooth was done, they charged me 9% annual rate along with a 13.31% interest (periodic finance charge). I continued to make payments for over a year until I had another medical emergency from which I almost died. I missed two payments. After emergency surgery, I got out of the hospital, called them and tried to make payment arrangements (since I make minimum wage, I suggested they add the two missed payments onto the length of the contract) and they refused. They demanded the entire amount in full even though I explained the circumstances. Finally, I was able to enroll in their hardship program which buys me some time to get caught up on what I owe. Despite the fact I'm paying every month, they harrass me with phone calls--sometimes calling on a daily basis for weeks. CareCredit says the hardship program won't stop the collection calls so why offer it? What's the point? NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. I've been paying over a year on the balance and since I missed a couple payments, with penalties and interest, I owe far above the original balance. They are a definately a RIPOFF!
