CareCentrix and Bremer Brace Overcharged and misinformed Jacksonville Florida
My physcian ordered an elastic back brace from Bremer Brace Company, in Jacksonville. That company took my insurance information and told me my insurance company would cover it, and I picked it up.
Four months later, I get a bill from a company called CareCentrix for $483.05 for the brace.
I called Bremer Brace and was told I had a zero balance and that they were paid in full. They would not tell me how much they were paid. They said that was between me and my insurance company. (They never told me that I would have a large balance due after insurance.)
They billed my insurance company $732 (for a ~$200 brace that's readily available without a prescription). My insurance company paid them $249. So who wants the $483.05?
It sounds like some kind of scam where the provider overcharges, then employees this company to collect from the patient.

Your explaination is true but the provider is the one who was ripped off also. They were paid $249. for the brace and for their services to you. Carecentrix charged you the additional $483.05 and that goes directly into their pockets. Meanwhile more insurance company use them to "manage" their members health plan.
Carecentrix made more on your illness then the provider who helped you - in turn you blame them. I've been praying that the OIG would take a good look at them - it will never happen they are too big.
