Complaint Review: Career Network

Career Network Bogus employment company gained access to my personal information....next time I will follow my gut instinct. Internet

I have been receiving responses from "HR" people from Career Network that have fake emails. When you reply to one of them it is bounced back and there is no other way to reach them.

They request more information via email, telling you they are considering you for a position. They ask for references along with contact information for each of them. They also ask if you want information on continuing education, debt consolidation, and owning your own business.

My hunch is that this line of questioning is actually gleaning your financial information; at least tipping them off as to what you can or cannot afford.

I should have known better when I noticed the majority of the companies are classified as "confidential company" and all the pay scales were virtually the same for all employers.

I also noticed that some of the posted jobs said the exact same things....verbatim. The first time, I entered bogus 555 numbers for my references but subsequent requests had me giving them 5 references and how they could be contacted.

I am really mad about this scam and wonder what exactly, they are doing with my information. Anyone else experience this BOGUS company?

I have received more than one e-mail from Career Network and their many and varied names, stating someone is interested in my resume and wishes further information. I supplied the requested information, including the request for references and waited. After filling out about 10 or 15 request for further information, a couple of my references called to let me know they'd heard from Career Network asking for a reference. In all cases, when they tried to access the website listed for the references, they could not gain access to the site. They tried clicking on the links -- nothing; they tried pasting the link in their brower address bar -- nothing. So then I thought, okay, I've got a login ID, I'll try to log in and find out what's going on. When I tried to log in, you've got it, nothing.

So I conducted a little research of my own and everything I could find indicated Career Network was a scam looking to gain your personal information for some reason. Thank goodness, I never gave them anything personal that could be used to invade my privacy. For someone who is desparately searching for a job and receives email after email from this company indicating someone is interest in their resume, the behavior of this company is unforgivable. Your hopes rise with each contact and, then, you begin to notice every contact is suspiciously the same, has the exact same wording, is very generic, and "leads you down the garden path" while you fill out yet another request for more information. I don't know what this company is after, maybe they're just a malicious, hateful bunch who enjoy getting people's hopes up and dashing them on the rocks again. Now, I'm getting things with a different company name, but it still leads to Career Network and is the same old generic junk they've been sending for months now. Thank goodness I found a job, but what they're doing is nothing short of shameful, rude, crude and social unacceptable -- their mothers would be ashamed of them. I get one more e-mail from them and I'm going to report them as spam and let the proper folks deal with their antics.

Please allow me to clear up the issue

I'm sorry that you feel our recruitment practices are not meeting your needs. I'm sure this is only due to a misunderstanding of us and our business. Allow me to clear up any confusion by explaining who we are and what it is we exactly do.

Career Network is a new job board that is free to use by both job seekers and employers. Currently, there are thousands of jobs throughout the country available for application on our network of employment sites. We actively market those opportunities to individuals who have previously expressed interest in receiving employment offers. This works as a benefit for our corporate clients as we actively reach hundreds of potential applicants who had not previously been introduced to the opportunity through traditional job ads.

To keep our services free to both job seekers and employers we do offer advertising verticals on the site. However they are completely voluntary and do not in any way affect job seekers' consideration for the listed employment opportunities. We act only as an intermediary between the applicants and the hiring companies, and do not interfere with the delivery of submitted resumes for any reason. To do so would jeopardize our relationships not only with our corporate clients but our advertising partners as well.

Once those resumes are delivered, the rest of the process is solely in the hand of the employer. The decision to hire, not hire, contact, etc. is theirs alone. If they receive a large amount of resumes, they may require extra time to respond to the applicants who did not make the cut. From personal experience, I have received that letter as long as six months after I applied for a position.

We do have a contact phone number for employers listed on the employer section of our Web site. However, that will get you in contact with our account managers who have no control over the status of your application. Like I said, that decision is out of our hands. If you are having technical issues accessing the site, please use the email provided.

Furthermore, let me assure you that nothing will be done with your personal information that you do not expressly authorize. Foremost, since you are applying for a position, your resume will be transmitted to the employer who will then consider you for a job based solely on your skills and education. Beyond that, we will only connect you with our promotional partners if you agree to it during the application process.

I hope this clears up any confusion you may have regarding our Web site and our recruitment services. Please feel free to contact us with any further issues or suggestions at info@careernetwork.us.com.
