After posting my resume on Monster.com, I receive a phone call from Bill Mason from Career Transition Center, Inc. in Phoenix AZ. (A.K.A. CTC)  I am told that a company has a position available, and Bill Mason would like to interview me for the position.  I arrive at Career Transition Center, Inc.  in Phoenix where I am presented with a questionnaire requesting information on whether I own my own home, number and age of children, and other irrelevant financial questions.  I decide to skip this part and proceed to meet with Bill Mason for my interview.  During the so-called interview, Bill proceeds to show me a "secret book of jobs" which lists unpublished employment positions which they have filled.  Upon looking at the pages shown to me ,I noticed all the jobs are nowhere near being current, as the dates were shown on each listing.  Bill the proceeds to draw an elaborate picture with pen and paper of how Career Transition Center works.  Not once during his presentation did he ask ANY questions relevant to a job interview.  When he finishes, I began to ask questions which Bill has no idea or information about.  I asked how many listing they receive a year, how many placements they complete in a year.  Bill spits out "70%".  70% of what?  He is not interested in answering any of my questions further, which I believe is suspicious.  At the end of the fictitious interview, I am told that R.G. "Rick" Davis would like to conduct a second interview. (there was no 1st interview).

After putting up with enough of this nonsense, I decide to leave and investigate Career Transition Center on the internet.  Much to my surprise, I found numerous complaints on ripoffreport.com, The Department of Labor,  http://phoenix.citysearch.com, as well as 2 complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.  Upon digging deeper, I found what I believed to be information about numerous lawsuits filed against this company and R.G. "Rick" Davis.  My investigation also turned up the fact that they charge in the ball park of $5,000.00 for their services.

Needless to say, I called and canceled the so-called 2nd interview.  Unfortunately, they continue to contact me.

It is true they do have a book of people placed. Who know's how accurate it is.

It is true that the services will cost you $5,000 with $1,475 paid up front!

It is true that they will "rub" success stats in your face to try to get you to bite.

You will also be invited to seminars free of charge in hopes that you will join even if it means owing a friend of family member money you may have a hard time paying back.

If you have the 5K and can afford to move forward the service just might be the route to go. But do your research and find people who have actually have success before you go all in.

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

October 6, 2010 RE: Rebuttal To Anonymous: Apparently one of the advantages of hiding behind the veil of anonymity is you can alter the facts without being held accountable. Thus, as President of Career Transition Center, Inc., a Phoenix based Career Management firm licensed by the Industrial Commission of Arizona since 1989, and has the highest possible rating issued by the BBB. (A+), I will personally address Mr. Anonymous false claims: 1.) Career Transition Center did not initiate the contact with this individual. He/she emailed his/her resume to us, we do not go online and pull off posted resumes. 2.) After reviewing the resume he/she presented to us, (since the only way we can receive a resume from somebody is if they choose to email it to us) Mr. Mason may have called him/her to schedule a screening interview, however, without his/her name, we cannot confirm the actual date. 3.) If his/her interview was scheduled in August or September of this year, for example, Career Transition Center, Inc. had five job orders that he/she would have been shown in our Job Order book, (not what he referred to as secret book of jobs.) These job orders were submitted directly to us by companies seeking qualified candidates. a. A Buyer position for a local manufacturing company. b. An Executive Director position for an out of state Health Services company. c. Two Software Development positions for an Interactive Networking/Marketing Agency. d. A Business Development position for an aerospace component manufacturing position. (Note: Each of which were current openings we were attempting to fill.) The salary range for these positions ranged from $35,000 to $120,000 4.) The questionnaire he/she referred to was not a job application, it was a profile analysis. Since 30% of our clients take longer than 14 weeks to place, we do not recommend our services if that might cause a financial strain on the client during the career pursuit process. The home ownership question is only pertinent if they are placed out of state and want us to negotiate relocation expenses as part of their employment package. 5.) As for his/her investigative process, he/she needs to confine his/her report to actual facts. Obviously, any company in business for 20 years will have some dissatisfied clients and we have. Fortunately, over 97% of our clients have appreciated our effort. The BBB doesnt arbitrarily hand out A+ ratings to companies that dont deserve it. As for the claim that, his/her research discovered we charge in the ball park of $5,000.00 for our services hes/she's in the wrong ball park. Our fees are regulated by the Industrial Commission of Arizona and have not been increased in 20 years. Had he/she chosen to include me in his/her research:, I would have been more than happy to address, face to face, any questions he/she had about our Job Orders, fees, the process in general, my staff, etc. and provided accurate data based on actual facts. In summary, although I did not have the opportunity to meet with Anonymous, I can assure you that he/she would not have had to worry about any fees or services because it is unlikely that he/she would have passed the scrutiny of a one hour interview session with me. To be determined marketable one must display professionalism, a positive attitude, and willingness to take direction regarding career pursuit methodology.  Sincerely, R.G. "Rick" Davis President /CEO Enclosure

I must apologize for the error in classifying this complaint as emergency services, as opposed to employment services
