I called Carefree Sprinkler Systems back at the beginning of September to schedule a winterization of my home sprinkler system. Cary said to send a check and once he received it, I'd be put on his schedule--for sometime between October 1st-31st. He could not pin down a date.

On October 23, I received my check back in the mail, along with a note stating "Im sorry but we were unable to winterize your sprinkler system." No reason, and he didn't even sign the stupid little note! I've tried calling several times and have left one message thus far, but have not received a call back.

Today I called several companies to request a winterization and of course they are all booked up! There's only a week left before weather forecasters predict frost, which is apparently when the sprinkler companies stop winterizing.

Thanks, Carefree Sprinklers and Cary Larson, for NOTHING!

I got ahold of Cary from the sprinkler company this afternoon. I said, "I received my check back in the mail, with a note stating that you couldn't winterize my sprinkler. I want to know why." What a poor business person! Cary was defensive and rude. He said his guy just couldn't do it. I asked why...did he run out of time, couldn't he find the house, etc.? No reason.

Cary thought that sending the check back was enough. I told him he should have called me sooner. He rudely stated that it only takes a day for the mail to go between his house and mine, and what did I want him to do, "hold on to the check and not call you for another week?"

I said, "You should have called me when the guy didn't do it. Now there's only a week left that anyone does the winterization, everyplace is booked up, and now I am just out of luck?! I want to know why the winterization was not done." Cary retorted, "I didn't know I had to have a reason. I sent back your check!" I told him that he was using bad business practices and was acting unprofessionally. I ended the call with, "I reported you to the Bad Business Bureau, and I just want you to know that."

Fortunately, after this call with Careless, I mean-Carefree Sprinkler Systems, I was able to find a local company that had an opening this week to come out and winterize my system!
