Now I bought a 2001 Grand Am
from carhop in Auburn Washington. The day after I bought it the drivers
side door window came off the track and fell into the door then shortly
after that I noticed the power window switches
do not work on the passenger and both back doors, and when washing it
one day I noticed the passenger side rear view mirror had been broken
off end remounted with big silver screws, and I found that there was a power seat adjustment
lever under my seat, although it didn't work either.
A month later the
battery died and I replaced it with a new one. Then in September
dropping my 7 year old daughter off in Portland at school the car
wouldn't start trying to leave Portland and head home, after having it
towed to a shop and now after being in Portland several hours I find
out that the fuel pump is no good and needs to be replaced and being
that it is in the fuel tank it's going to take till the following day
and they also noticed the lighter and air conditioning fuses were
missing. Now I dropped my 7 year old off at 9am and my
18 year
old picked me up at 2am and I didn't get home till 5:30am, that was
quite a day.
The next day the shop called me and said the warranty
company would not allow them to put in a new part and were sending over
a used part and it will take a bit longer to get the car fixed due to
that, then the following day the shop called me and said, "well we got
the part the warranty company sent over and put it in, although it
doesn't work". The shop got the warranty company to get another fuel
pump and the shop started over again and fixed it and this time it
worked, I am now a week without the car and catching a train to
Portland
to retrieve it. Now Tuesday of this week (10/27/9) the car doesn't
start, at least I was closer to home this time and I make some calls,
to the warranty company and to the last shop that worked on it.
I again
have the car towed to a shop thinking it was the fuel pump again, yet
finding out that it's the Ignition cylinder, the ignition switch, a
wheel
calliper, a CV boot, a
tie rod, which must be followed by a
wheel alignment, the cam cover is leaking and needs a new gasket, and the
intake manifold
is leaking and needs a new gasket. All of this of course is not covered
by the warranty and after taxes comes to about $3000. Interesting that
that as about the
blue book
on this car in pristine working order and what I have already made in
payments, and I see a dealership in Seattle selling this exact car for
that amount in perfect condition.
Now when I test drove the car
initially it ran great and looked great, although I didn't take it into
a shop for a thorough inspection like I should have instead I trusted
the manager of your store that told me it was a "great car" in "great
running order", and I didn't test every gadget either, although I
should have. I've been paying top dollar for a "great" car, yet again
it's in the shop. I contacted
UAC
several times and all they want to know is when I'm paying, and refuse
to work with me on the car. Now the car has been impounded from the
shop as they can't get
uac
to come get the car either, and they still refuse to work with me or
get their car. They just want money.
Interesting I have found 53
letters to date on scam, ripoff , etc.. sites with a similar story. I'm
Fighting back.. Want to join me contact your BBB, for some reason no
one is doing this and they still have an A rating which needs to be an
F. Help the consumer and get the word out.. Everyone I talk to about
this has a similar story or knows someone with a similar story. Go to
the BBB,Attorney General, all complaint sites, etc...
