The following scam is almost exactly what has been documented on this site before.

I was just approached by an Italian guy in the Home Depot parking lot with a story about leaving the country for Italy and he had 4 leather jackets and 2 suede jackets for sale. He spoke, or pretented himself to speak little english. He indicated he would have to pay taxes on the jackets if he took them back and would rather sell them here. He indicated the jackets were worth about $800 each but was willing to take $450 for all 6. The Italian guy was driving a white SUV vehicle with out of state plates. He was about mid 50's rather bald with blue eyes and bad teeth and a smoker. He showed me his Italian passport, gave me a business card indicating he worked for an Italian company selling Armani suits and a roll of cash indicating he was not broke just selling his inventory before leaving the country. I told him I was sorry and didnt have any money so he left. Dont fall for this guy!

... I'll bet good money you didn't call the police or notify the store.
