I ordered the "No Down Payment" course for $9.95 for 30 days. I didn't like it because it was all I thought it would be. I called customer service about returning it. They took a statement from me explaining why I was returning it. They gave me instructions on how to return it including how much to insure it for and they even extended my return date by a couple of days.

I sent it back US Priority Mail on April 15, 2002. I was start enough to ask for conformation on the package. It arrived on April 19, 2002. The extended date for return was April 26, 2002. So it arrived a whole 7 days early.

I transferred to Japan at the end of May and I've received a letter saying "I owe" $128.28 to The Proffessional Education Institute for the couse I returned.

The thing is, they claim not to have received it. Now I receive a letter from Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc.

stating that I owe PESI $384.86. How do they come up with these figures?

More outrageous behavior from Carleton Sheets

Heidi,

The behavior and business ethics of this distributor of the Carleton Sheets program is just plain shameful. What do they call themselves The Professional Education Institute (PEI)? Heres what you do, write a polite letter to The Retrieval Masters Creditors Bureau, Inc. (RMC) to inform them that that you returned the product to the PEI. Include the confirmation information that you saved. Then, at the end of the letter tell them that you intend to write a formal complaint to the Attorney General of Illinois. Say that if they continue to attempt to collect money from you with the knowledge that you returned the product you will make a complaint about RMC as well. Most likely RMC is actually part of PEI.

If RMC will most likely counter that PEI has no record of receiving the product from you. The obvious response to this is that you cannot be held liable for PEIs shoddy records.

Report RMC and PEI to the AGs office whether they drop the collection attempts or not.

Good Luck,
