On 21 July, 2002 I purchased a Chevrolet Cavalier from CARMAX in Dulles, VA. Since then, I have nothing but problems. For example, at time of purchase, I had a broken seat belt, a broken headlight cover and passenger seat was busted.

15 days after purchasing the alternator dies. Since then, every time I have taken the vehicle in for recommended services, the technician explain to me that numerous things do not appear to be serviced in years.

For example, the fuel injection is to be serviced ever 12,000 miles. I have had the vehicle less than 6,000 miles and was shown how soggy the fuel injections lines were.

Now, I am having issues with the Transmission Pan and Oil Pan gaskets. The transmissions needs to be serviced as well.

Theses could have been avoided had carmax properly done the 125 point inspection they advertised.

This is blatent false advertisement. They disregarded safety concerns in attempts to sell a vehicle with seat belt issues as well.

CARMAX is lousy company.

FYI, for most of the carmax's in my area the service departments only work bank hours, so if you decide to buy a car from them, expect to have problems and expect to take time off of work just to have your vehicle serviced.

Poor Service Hours

I too have had difficulty getting repairs done as the service hours are primarly during the early morning hours and afternoons are left open as so they can prepare cars to be sold. I use to work at this company and know the "game" they often play with customers.

PURCHASED A 1996 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE NOTICED THE NEXT DAY THE DRIVER SEAT DID NOT MATCH WENT DOWN THERE THEY SAID OH WE HAD TO HAVE THE SEAT REDONE OK I CAN LIVE WITH THAT .

MY DAUGHTER CAME HOME WITH THE CAR YESTERDAY I WENT TO MOVE IT FOUND THE CARPET PULLED FROM THE SIDE A LITTLE AFTER LOOKING FOUND THAT SOMEONE HAD TAKEN CARPET AND GLUED IT TO THE TOP OF THE ORIGINAL CARPET AND IT WAS COMING LOOSE. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER THEY COULD CARE LESS,CALLED THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHECK AND CALL ME BACK WHICH THEY DID AND SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE CARPET IF I WANTED TO PAY THERE COST.

I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 90 DAYS. THERE INSPECTION PLAN SEEMS TO HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER CAR FROM THEM I PURCHASE A CAR EVERY OTHER YEAR AND THIS IS THE SECOND CAR FROM CARMAX IN TWO YEARS AND THE LAST.

Be more careful next time ..Some cars are just more problematic than others.

I apologize for your problems but a Cavalier is not the most reliable vehicle to start things off with. Carmax can't be blamed for your poor choice of vehicles. You didn't mention the year of your car but have you check nhtsa.com to see if any of your problems have been the subject of a recall? Also, is the car still under factory warranty?

But I think the biggest problem is that you bought a Cavalier and expected Honda reliability. Carmax has nothing to do with how reliable the car is. Some cars are just more problematic than others.

Bankers Hours?

I don't know about where you are, but here where I live good luck finding a mechanic anywhere that will work on your car after 6:00pm. Do you have 24 hour repair shops in VA? There are many other repair shops besides Carmax that work "banker hours". I think it is more the norm than the exception.
