Complaint Review: CARMAX

CARMAX Alarm system installation failed + big liar and miss communication between the divisions. Kennesaw, Georgia

I purchased car from this CARMAX. Sales person was very nice and kind I have ever seen before. I decided to purchase the car within the first visit. He told me to install some security system and this price will added to finance to my account. That was very smooth operation for this process, Still nice. However I had to make a schedule for the installation of security system but mechanic division was not open on sat and sun. So I have to use my pay vacation from my company that I used to work to get a car security system. After they installed my security system I was pretty happy I feel safe to leave my car on parking lot. I was figuring out for better security feature on user's manual, It is said this package comes with siren tone speaker but it looks like they forgot to install for siren device in to my car. Now here is they made the but choice, I call to the car alarm system manufacture by giving them what I got from CARMAX and they told me it should comes with siren tones and everything listed on user's manual. My security system was missing siren tone device.So I had to call to sales person to make sure if there is missing parts what I purchase from you at mechanic division twice, But I never had respond from that sales guy. Now I had make a call to mechanic service front desk and she told me they can fix this issue this problem since mechanic man did not install proper way. So I made another pay vacation which is I'm not supposed to taking off that day. My manager was pretty pissed off on me and the CARMAX as well. I was on the way to CARMAX and mechanic division front desk told me schedule is cancelled ... I was like what happen? She told me mechanic person had to go home because one of his family had car accident so it was emergency that I understand very well. But I was pissed off when she said "You have to make another schedule on next week." I was totally speech less. Because they did not install system proper way and it is not working proper way. I totally disagree with her suggestion that time. She was trying to hangup on my call because she wants to run away or something else. I knew that is going to happen. I asked her there is several person can install the system proper way but she said no I pissed off twice and I had to hang up and call back to store manager(useless manager ever seen before). Since I was disagree with her opinion I told store manager to returning my security system at no labor charge.She was nicer than mechanic division front desk service lady.Of course she supposed to be nicer than every person in that store!! Finally she said will going to investigate first and return the call as soon as possible but I didn't get the call at same day.. Next day I received call from store manager and I was told that security system installation KIT does not come with siren tone device. OK now I told her I call to car security manufacture they told me it comes with everything. After several conversation she will going to have another investigation which is not necessary but she wasn't trust me at all.I think she was explained by mechanic person (LIAR) that is not comes with siren tone sound.Finally she call me back and she was explained they will allow to return my system with labor charges on it...... I was like with what!? My brain was blowing off that time.Finally one of my friend decided to help me out by contacting to CARMAX headquarter. I think it was south regions manager who is take care of entire CARMAX in southeast USA. I explained entire story again and again he seems to very upset about THAT BRANCH have hired several useless employee and not enough trained for communicate operations. After several minutes I got so many apologize call from who has involved this situation but I was not happy at all. They involved one my friend and my co-workers also I spent my 2 days of pay vacations + entire of my schedule was messed up. They said one of CARMAX mechanic person will visit to my working place to install proper way he did good job. And they give me money back entire money I spent for the system included labor charge. It's about more that $300 After that I got a call from store manager the person who did install my alarm system he was fired. Of course that is going to happen I thought so...One small thing fail will become huge problem. I will never going back to them NEVER!! Be cause mechanic service operation schedules are very inconvenience to me. I am not part time worker, I am full time worker!! Who want's to take the day off during the weekday just for the fixing the car? They should think about reschedule for regular full time worker!! I will purchase my car next time from authorized dealer they should open on SAT for mechanic service such a TOYOYA or HONDA.

I hope you understand what is Rip off mean is.
Now I need you to clear this up this time. Rip off is not just only money issue, it is include entire horrible experience. You did not understand this story yet. I understand that you are try to protect. I know how do you feel on this report but I still have to...
I forgot to mention in this report that I got from CARMAX security system was defect.
I know what I got back from this company but I still not getting back my spend time and annoy people against me.

You are saying I got back money for the defect security system and completed installation is clear this story? Answer is no. And I don't want any follow by dictionary. I know what that mean is,,

You said "seems could have been avoided by planning ahead."I made my plan to get work on installation. That was the best plan I could make that time.
Do you really think every person could getting a friend to pick me up or something else?

day"Yes I was taking day of only half day. Not entire day. Sorry, I did not explained well at first post. I should say half day off, is this correct?
"They forget" Is this mean still BS on me or something?  I said store manager told me that is not comes with siren device,,Why do you think this is forgetting? And I told her I did make sure with
manufacture of security system, that KIT are comes with it! But she was keep telling me same things over and over!!I also told to sales person right before I talk to store manager. He seems to be working on it but there was miscommunication.
My opinion is one or several person were BS on me, which mean is trying to rip off.
They did not support me until one of my friend contact to headquarter.
This is good enough to describe for rip off. Because I paid what I need to. I follow what CARMAX asking me to... But they were not helping me out until situation is getting horrible.
Why are they fire him off from CARMAX? Because they investigated alarm installer, he was doing his job incomplete. That is why he gets fired, I guess.

Please do not forget adding "maintenance service(oil change and other services)" in this sentence.
They don't have an Alarm Installer and "maintenance service" working on Weekends. 

You have to know people are spending the large amount of money at dealership.(I think you know that well), They are not buying a candy and snacks. They are very sensitive to buying a car.

Also I just remembered my car was not equipped cabin air filter since I bought it.
After a winter season I noticed smell so horrible in my car because cabin air filter was missing.
I was going to change it any way but it was too late.Cabin air filter is keep sending clean air against evaporator. Evaporator in my vehicle has lot of dust dirt and mold.
Unbeneficial bacteria against passenger and driver makes horrible sick.
Does every customer need to check if there missing filter or not when buying a car? 
I still have horrible smell no matter how much I use disinfectant spray! Horrible smell with bacteria  causes of sick,, my girl friend had asthma symptom got worse since I got infected vehicle.
I will have to take my car to the auto shops who does for evaporator cleaning service.

CARMAX has evaporator checking service included. How can they checked for that part and not adding a cabin air filter? I discuss about this to another CARMAX seems to they really don't care. I really think this is one of rip off also. I feel like don't know what to do, I just gave up asking to CARMAX. Could not trust anymore... I watched CARMAX TV commercial, they do complete job, But not for me.

Here is another one I had problem which is not really but almost.
Since I do not trust them I checked every entire system such an oils and coolant what ever causes critical conditions of my car. Engine oil level was too high, this makes break on engine gasket and oil leaks. I had to remove some engine oil which is not part of my job.

CARMAX service was rip off...
Now please remember rip off is not the only alarm system etc,,  Most customers are looking for total customer satisfaction mean is :

CUSTOMER MAKE PAYMENT = TOTAL CARE AGAINST CUSTOMER = CUSTOMER SATISFIED OR NOT
This could be same entire company has service for against customer.

Even if I refunded for the security system I still not call this satisfied.
This is what I pay for it and what I got.
Total care was rip off.

If I get what you are saying..

They don't have an Alarm Installer working on Weekends, so you had to take an entire day off of work.  Inconvenient but hardly a RipOff, and one that seems could have been avoided by planning ahead. Such as getting a friend to take you to work, scheduling it for only a few hours not an entire day..etc.

But then they forget(for what ever reason) to attach the siren.  So you go back to have it installed and on the day you had to take off they tell you that the installer's family was in a car accident.  Again not really a RipOff.

But then you go back and forth again and in the end here is what happened.  They sent someone to your work to install it AND refunded the entire purchase price.

So exactly where is the RipOff?
