I purchased the Jeep on Feb. 20 of 2012. I was impressed with the Jeep and the process, my salesman was very good. At the end of May I was driving up the highway and I heard a loud knocking noise, as I drove a little more it got louder so I pulled over. When I pulled into a newby gas station, the front right wheel literally broke off. I called AAA and they towed it to Carmax in Norcross. I was ok with the situation because I purchased the full warranty- Maxcar plan for $2300, and was promised "peace of mind".

After review the service manager claims this will not fall under warranty since it was not a collision or mechanical failure. I disagree completely. I did not have the tires rotated, only the oil changed in mid-May. I am being charged for the tow, the rental car, the technician's fee for looking into it, and an estimate for $1200 to fix the tire. My fender was bent in the process. I refuse to pay for this as the Jeep wrecked itself. The only explaination is that Carmax sold me a Jeep with loose lugnuts. They don't just fall off or break. They claim I should file it under my personal insurance as vandalism. #1 I don't have that coverage and #2 nothing can be proved it was vandalism.

If I would have been driving with my kids in the Jeep and it happened on the highway, it could have been very bad news. Even if it technically did not fall under the warranty coverage, in which I tacked on an additional $2300 to my car note, it's a customer service issue!
