Complaint Review: Carmela Kramer

Carmela Kramer Prime West Properties Deceptive, unlicenced realtor. Underhanded and illegal activity. San Diego, California

I first started renting a four bedroom with three other roommates from Carmela Kramer in December of 07. I suspected something was up when we first moved in seeing as how we never received copies of the lease and my deposit was quite high.

Everyone moved out and had been replaced, the landlady knowledgeable of the situation, and I, being the only original tenant, retained the lease.

When it came time for the lease to be renewed, she put it off completely, refusing to comply with my request. Legally, as far as I am aware, if she does not renew it or present a new lease within 30 days, the previous lease rolls over.

As months went on, we were sometimes late with our rent, a roommate was late, whatever. We still kept in good contact with her.

Now, we're a few days late and she's blatantly harassing us, threatening to throw us out TOMORROW [which is completely illegal] saying she's serving us over email [doesn't work that way] and giving us a "20 day notice" [also doesn't work that way.] BUT! Only me INDIVIDUALLY.

Which is illegal, as I retain the original lease.

She wants to go behind my back and give my three roommates a lease [even though two of them were late] and kick me out.

Her English is awful. She altered our original lease and forged my signature. She refused to give us a copy until a few days later when she had done her "corrections". She has listed our apartment on the market even though we still retain the legal rights to this apartment. She lies about our deposit CONSTANTLY. She said she paid my previous roommates when they moved out, which is a lie. I have to get signed statements from each of them.

I doubt her license is even up to date.

To make matters worse, the property owner is actually her brother. He speaks no English.

I'm being scammed and harassed here and I have no idea what to do or who to call right now.

Your story is very touching. For someone that fail to pay the rent on time (more than 5 time) and than only paid part of it it is surprising that you think you should stay in the unit.

Why didnt you write that you were a drug user???

Why didnt you write that you were not able to hold a job more than few month and than would ask me to help you so you can make small payments???

Why didnt you write that all the roommates that moved in with you left because of your issues (and that you fail to inform me).

You and your girl friends felt entitled to do as you wish in the unit just because you were there over a year.  Sorry, it this life time you need to have a job and responsibility to pay for what you use and rent is part of it.

It is amazing to me that you have time to lie on the net about the people that have helped you and gave you a chance. Why would you take this time to find a job

I am very happy that your own sister can be a witness to all of your lies (banks statements and bad checks are also filed to show your lies).

I hope that by now you have grown to be more responsible person.

No wonder you have not asked for references for your next rental place???  The rest of the renters  that paid on time got great references.
