Complaint Review: Carrie Cats

I have never dealt with a breeder as dishonest as Carrie Williams of Carrie Cats .  I placed a deposit of $156 on one of her kittens, and signed a contract stating explicitly that the kitten was reserved for me.   After I  signed the contract , I find out that Carrie does not believe in vaccinating her cats, or taking them for basic veterinary care like deworming.  This complicated matters as I needed the cat shipped from Illinois to Massachusetts, and the cat must have a basic health certificate stating that the cat has been vaccinated for distemper, in order to be shipped.  Carrie told me she could have her veterinarian make a health certificate without vaccinating the cat, and that this would be good enough for the airline. I was a little uncomfortable with this, but I trusted she knew what she was doing.

About a week before the cat was supposed to ship to Boston, Carrie calls me and tells me that she wasn't able to get the airline ticket because "the Obama adminiatration put such strict regulations on the airlines" and the cat could not be shipped without the vaccines.   I was already emotionally attached to the cat, so I begged her to let me research other options for transporting the cat- such as a courier, driving, or flying in to pick up the cat myself.  She agreed to let me try and we got of the phone.  

About ten minutes later, she called me back to tell me she wasn't totally honest with me, ie: she completely lied to me.   She then finally told the truth- She actually SOLD MY CAT TO ANOTHER FAMILY.  She did this without even so much as a courteousy call!  She only called me after the fact, and tried to get out of the lie by lying even more and pretending that she wasn't able to ship the cat due to the airlines. The truth was, when she told me all of that, she didn't even have the cat in her possession anymore!! The cat had already gone home with their new family..  In doing this,  she broke a signed contract stating that the specific cat was reserved for me.  There are so many other ways she could have handled this situation, but the way she chose was to lie, and then lie even more to try to get out of her original lie.   Only when she was caught red handed in the lie, did she totally come clean.  

 Beware of dealing with this breeder- Carrie Williams is very dishonest and manipulative.  I was not surprised to  see there is another ripoff report written by someone else about her, detailing an almost identical situation to what I went through with her.   She took my money and then completely lied to me and sold my cat to another family.  I hope no one else has to go through something like this- which is why I am writing this report.  She did ultimately refund my $156, but I will never get back the amount of time I wasted dealing with this dishonest person, the heartache of losing a cat I had already fallen in love with, and the opportunities I passed up to adopt other cats, because I believed I had already found my cat.  She lied to me, and did so without remorse, since this is her MO- BUYERS BEWARE! You will regret dealing with this person.
