Complaint Review: Carthage Animal Hospital

We took our 2 Persian - Himalayan cats into the Carthage Animal Hospital on August 3, 2004. 1 was to be front de-clawed and have a haircut, and the other was to have his shots updated and also have a haircut. We have done this once before at another vet office and everything went perfectly, so when we decided to take them both in we didn't have any problems.

When went down today to get them both (Thursday August 5th, 2004) We paid the vet $177.73 for services rendered. When we got home, we discovered the horror of what went on. Our White cat (Poofy) has scars and cuts all over the underside of his legs and stomach, some are still bleeding, I'm going to try to add some pictures just so you can see the pain this cat must be in.

We went back to the vets office and the Owner came out, He said "Oh this is normal, when you give a cat a haircut, they move quite a bit." I then brought up the fact that we paid to have our cats "put to sleep" to have this haircut so there would be no problems. His response was "well I'm not going to give you a refund, or charge you for bringing them back here today, oh by the way, here is some antibiotic you can give him but I don't think he really needs it".

Our other kitten was not cut up as bad, we also have pictures of her too. I would like to know what to do? I have thought about stopping payment on the check I wrote, and even contacting an animal activist group.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Before we went to the vet office our cats were very freindly and playful, now they won't even come out of the bedroom. I just want people in this area to beware of this Doctor, and the groomer he uses. They are very unproffesional, and rude to customers.
