My boyfriend bought an older car-a 1991 Toyota Camry. I wanted to know what the Car Fax (facts) were on it so I went to the CA DMV (Department of Motors Vehicles) website.

To make a long story short, I ended up on this website: carvincheck.com. At first, it was supposed to be free. But it turned out that for $2.95 I could get a report.

I put the vin in and got this shot out nothing report. It told me nothing. So I tried it again. They were going to charge me another fee, which was way more than the original fee. So I thought I better cut my losses and forget about it.

Then a few days later I got a charge of $29.95 to my credit card. It is pending right now. Luckily, I used my Chase card. The bank is really good about giving a refund if you dispute a charge that you didn't authorize.

I tried to call the 888-613-1485 number to carvinchecks.com. They answered the phone. The man had an accent from a foreign country. He asked me my first and last name. I gave it to him. Then my email addredd. I gave it to him.  For security purposes, he asked for my home address. That's when I told him I had had enough and I hung up on him.

I am so mad. I hate being ripped off by anyoine on the internet. I should have seen it coming though when I got no report and tried it again and they were going to charge me again. No reputable company would do that.
