Casey's Timberhaus Family Restaurant & Lounge Horrendous Service, Horrendous Food Preparation the business that doesnt give a dam Wheatland Wyoming
My family and I drove from Colorado Springs, CO to visit some historic Oregon Trail spots near Guernsey, WY (Ft Laramie, Register Cliffs, and Oregon Trail Ruts - if you get the chance to go out of your way, the visit was wonderful - my daughter was studying the Oregon Trail in school so the trip tied in wonderfully and we all enjoyed it immensely).
Saturday night at the recommendation of the hotel manager where we stayed, we decided to give Casey's Timberhaus a try since I was in the mood for steak and my daughter loves ribs.
I should have picked up on vibes right away when we arrived, but I took the extremely slow action at the reception area to mean than this was just a laid back Wyoming town. It took forever for the lady to acknowledge that we were even there. When my wife and daughter moved off to the ladies room to tidy up, the lady finally asked me if I needed a table for one. After I corrected her, she went off to get a table ready. 15 minutes later, a second lady finally asked if we needed help and got us to our table. I would say it was 30 minutes from the time we entered until we were seated.
Our waitress (the lady who first acknowledged me) began right off with complaining about how they were short on help, needed a busboy and extra waitresses.
We ordered and then waited. I ordered a ribeye steak dinner, medium, my wife ordered chicken and my daughter ordered ribs. When the meal came, my steak was dark red on the inside and my daughter's Sprite was totally flat and her rice was missing from the order.
Then we waited another eternity for the waitress to come around to ask how things were. We finally had to track someone down to get things fixed. My steak went back and was still rare when it returned. At this point we are completely sorry that we even stopped at this joint.
Upon talking with other customers who had been to this place before (why they come back, I'll never know), they told us that the owner is extremely cheap, buys all his food and supplies from Sams Club and believes the restaurant can be run by two people. Obviously, the owner does not care about customer service and is just in it to make his money from customers without providing a good level of service.
I truly hope that if you have a trip planned to see the historical aspects of the Guernsey area that you do go - it was most enjoyable. However, please stay away from this eating establishment unless you are looking for the incredulous entertainment value. It was truly unbelievable and the worst eating experience we have ever experienced in our lives.
On a positive note, the Wyoming Motel was a very nice, clean, simple motel - there are others in the area, but due to my daughter's allergies, we needed a place that had rooms that did not permit pets. Also, the Wheatland Inn was a charming experience with delicious food and cheerful service.
