I previously had Tim do work by the company name "Custom Coatings by Design" about a year and a half ago at a rental I was living in.  Tim did a great job on this project as well as many other projects he had done for friends and family that I know.

On January 25th 2010 I decided to hire Tim again to finish my floor with a custom coating which would look like tile as he has a process to make the floor look like it has grout lines and colors the concrete.  I confronted Tim at first on January 29th as I had stopped by my house to look from my front door into the living room, dining room, and kitchen and noticed there were some marks apparently from a 5 gallon bucket, and some shoe prints.  Tim told me that this is not a big deal at all and that he can fix it no problem by sanding down the squares that have marks in them and re-finishing them, he promised to stop by the following Monday February first.

I later walked on my floor on Saturday January 30th in the afternoon to find more marks which Tim later admitted the marks had come from an attachment end for a shop vac.   I tried calling and text messaging Tim that day, the 31st of January and the first of February and finally got a response from him that he stopped by and agrees that the floor looks like crap and he will fix it. He also said he will walk through the house with me upon completion. He asked me to go through the house and mark the squares that I have problems with tape.  I marked over 1/3 of the squares as there were not only the issues mentioned above, but there were what appeared to be calcification marks, inconsistency in color, sheen, shade, and corners weren't finished into the wall which needed to be as I confirmed with Tim that I would not be putting baseboards inside my house.

Tim showed up Tuesday February 2nd and started doing repairs.  I stopped by the house on Friday February 5th to see the progress. He had the areas masked off and troweled but no color on the squares or grout lines either as he was waiting for the concrete to dry.  He said he would still walk through the house with me after the job is complete and said he would have one my room to my back door and hallway into laundry room floor ready to walk on by the next day Saturday February 6th in the afternoon.  Tim texted me Friday evening into Saturday around noon to let me know the progress.   He said he thinks I should still be able to walk on the specified areas of the floor by afternoon, he also mentioned in the text that the colors are close.

I stopped by my house only to find that the floors were still not dry, and I couldn't even walk on the specified areas to get into my attic to work on re-routing my water heater location.  I peeked through the windows with my aunt, and grandfather only to find that the areas he "fixed" were more of a reddish color than a lighter brown which is what I specified for the original floor he did.  The grout was horribly darker than original grout as well.  There was no consistency to begin with as I mentioned to Tim before he even started repairing.  The master bedroom floor had more of a rust color to the floor versus other rooms being lighter, some rooms darker, my hallway had dark spots, drops of darkness in areas, and poorly troweled areas.

I tried calling Tim, leaving voicemails, text messages, emails from Sunday February 7th through Tuesday February 9th when I finally called Tim's brother in the evening to see if he could reach him.  Tim emailed me back stating the following: "Derek, I am in prescott this week looking at houses for my mom and the signal here isnt great i can only email from my phone and its been dead i just charged it when i left everything looked good the colors werent perfect but with stains every batch stains differently what is the major concern?"  I sent him pictures I had taken as a reply to his email, and left another voicemail stating my unhappiness, and followed up another call with his brother.  DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS PERSON!
