My Mother and I went into Castle Furniture to purchase a dining table, coffee table, and couch. The sales rep. told my mother her coffee table was on back order and would be in 3-4 weeks from Sept 10th. It never came in, not a phone call or letter. Every time my mother called they would tell her that the coffee table would be in that next week. She would never here anything back from them.

Finally I called on a Sat. 10/19 and spoke to a Terri who informed me that the coffee table will be in on the Monday. When my mother called to set up a delivery date that Monday she spoke to a manager name Mary who said she could not help her and once again the table was not coming in until for another 6 months.

After my mother told me the situation and how Castle Furniture said they can not give her back her money I called. I asked for a manager and thats when Terri sent me to Mary. I asked her if she was manager and she said yes. I started to tell her that she just spoke with my mother and I had some questions. She asked me who my mother was and when I told her she cut me off. Mary said "yeh, I spoke with her and I am going to tell you the same thing I told her, I can't do anything and if she has a problem she can call back Thursday to talk to a manager".

I said you adressed yourself as a manager and we got into it. Mary was so RUDE AND UNPROFFESIONAL to make a long story short. She hung up on me five time all together. She said she can't help me and "Does not get paid enough to listen to this CRAP". I told her that I wanted to speak to her boss when he came back on Thursday, but how do I know he will be in the office. Mary told me thats the chance I have to take.I told her that I am a customer and she does not need to get an attitude.

She said your not a good customer and hung up on me. I paid for the furniture already, its not like they are doing me a favor and giving me the coffee table out of good will.

Also when they delivered my couch they did not bring the accent pillows that is supposed to come with the couch. It is so frustrating to deal with a small time furniture store that takes your money and acts like they are doing you a favor by giving you your stuff. The last thing I am going to say is the dining table my mother did buy has a thick glass top that has long crack that are staring to appear. The owner David Kieth went to my parents house to look at the cracks. He said anything could have made those scratches. Keep in mind he is the owner. David took his keys out and tried to scratch the glass, did'nt work. "Its to dull". So my dad gave him a knife and said go ahead and try to scratch the glass with it.

David tried and could not scratch the glass top. David the owner said "IM STILL NOT REPLACING THE GLASS". The owner and my father got into a spat and after my father threaten legal actions. David said to my father "YOU DON'T SCARE ME, I HAVE BEEN IN BUISNESS LONGER THAN YOU HAVE BEEN IN THIS COUNTRY".

It is very unprofessional for an owner to make a racial comments like that. I am very unsatisfied with the way the owner conducted his buisness and would not recommend anyone doing buisness with Castle Furniture.

I purchased a dining room table from Carolina Direct, the previous tenant of the same space as Castle Furniture, during their at least six month long "Going out of business" sale. I was later told by a friend who lives in the area that that space has been occupied by the same tenant for years, only they open under different names, stay in business for a little while, then have a protracted "Going out of business sale," then start all over again.

At the beginning of September, I ordered and paid for a dining room table that my salesman promised would be delivered by Thanksgiving, my main reason for purchasing the table.

I should have paid attention to the red flags: if they're going out of business & have to clean out all their inventory, why do they have to order the furniture? They told me there was one central warehouse, but many stores. But if there's one out of state warehouse, how come there was a stocked warehouse in town as well?

After calling numerous times to ensure my delivery date (I even had the salesman write it on the ticket), they called the day before Thanksgiving to tell me my table was in.

I borrowed a truck and went to the warehouse to pick it up and the lady there said, "they did tell you they substituted your table, right?" Nope.

They substituted a supposedly higher priced / better quality table... that was ugly. I refused it. They tried to get me to take it so I would have something to serve Thanksgiving dinner on, and I refused. I figured after all the other crap they'd done, once I took it home, it would be mine. The last-ditch effort was to give me a table that had come in, but had a huge scratch down it. I refused that too.

I finally got my money back, but it took three months and I think it was only because I screamed so loud and they just wanted me off their back. I even went to the showroom and made a scene. I believe that Castle Furniture is run either by the same people as Carolina Direct, or by people with the very same business practices. I'm watching for the inevitable "Going out of business" sale.
