I started receiving almost daily calls from Cavalry. They insisted that I pay them almost $500 dollars for an outstanding Sprint PCS bill.

I would have paid...had I ever in my life had a Sprint PCS account!

I immediately checked my credit report to find these SOBs have placed an Adverse Account on my credit report. So I did some investigation.

They provided a name and address to get access to my credit report. Other than getting my name wrong and providing a street address that doesn't exist, they did a great job.

Luckily, I had a late 2003 credit report, so when they back dated several entries such as Assigned and Delinquency dates, I was able to show that these entries were bogus. To this day, I have never received anything in writing from Cavalry.

After two months of them trying to coerce me into paying, I sent Cavalry a Cease Communication Letter (if you Google it, you can find it) by certified mail and they have since only called one time. I have decided that this company simply can not be trusted so I am working directly with the Credit Report companies rather than work with either awful company (Cavalry & Sprint PCS).

I must say that I am really disappointed with the Credit Reporting companies. That Cavalry could provide incorrect and bogus information to gain access to my report and then knowingly (I suspect) put a false adverse account on my Credit Report without raising any flags, is just wrong.

I have to pay for all of the credit reports and certified mail. I have to spend time to write all of the letters and investigate the case to try and prove a negative (that I have never had an account with Sprint), while these guys can just make stuff up.

I do plan to send a copy of all of my evidence to the FTC and California Attorney General, but I doubt it will do much good. Unfortunately, in the real world Goliath doesn't lose.
