Complaint Review: CBCS

CBCS Beware Bogus Settlement Offer! Columbus Ohio

I received a letter stating I owed $81.99 for a bill from 1997 from AT&T broadband. They were willing to settle for $41.00. Imagine my surprise! All of our bills have always been under my husbands name. I did some research and found this site. I am glad I did. I wrote CBCS a letter telling them this was fraud at my expense, and would not tolerate it. I told them to cease and desist their criminal harassement, and if they did not I would contact the Attorney General. I sent the letter today by certified mail, so we will see what happens. I feel that a class action civil suit is in order!

I said PROBABLY that doesn't mean it will....and did this lady even check her report? It possible COULD be on it...who knows? Debt buyers usually reage the account and say it was "outstanding" debt from when they bought it...soooo it could possible well be reported by whoever placed the account with the collection agency...it doesn't go away lady... so you should take care of it!

No, I don't work in collections but I know lots about it...and trust me it's not going ot go away and it will resurface in the future. God bless you.

You stated this account may go on her credit report. She stated it was a bill from 1997. It should not go on her credit report.

A cease and decease letter only stops collections activities and your debt will probably be sold or appear on your credit report. If the account had your name and SSN then you should find more information ASAP otherwise you will get turned down for credit in the future. And I am sure CBCS will stop contacting you because they don't want to pay any fines
