This company sold me a truck that I found on CL. They told me the truck was in perfect running condition and was taken in on a trade in for a newer truck and the owner had taken very good care of . I called them and went over the details and asked if it had any leaks or anything wrong with it. They said they had their mechanic look over it and it was in perfect running condition.

I had them dieliver it to me due to me being in Redding and which they charged me $200, which I thought was a fair deal. When the truck arrived they were very polite and I took a quick glance over the truck and trusted that they were telling me the truth. I paid them $8300 for a 98 chevy 3500 which I thought was a good deal due to how clean it was.

As soon as I took off in it later that afternoon I noticed the oil pressure guage was bouncing and that it had some play in the steering. when I got home I decided to take a good look under the hood and noticed an oil leak. I immediately took it to my mechanic who later told me that I had been ripped off. There was a leak from both valve covers, a leak from the crank shaft seal and the tranny lines and oil cooling lines where both leaking. It  also needed two idler arms and pittman arms as they were both shot.

This had been going on for quite sometime because the oil build up under the vehicle  and on the drive line was incredible. I called Cliff Mohr who reffered me to the owner Craig Renton. The conversation was nothing less than I expected from a shady used car salesman, he told me that his mechanic had looked it over and it was good when they left sacramento and that this stuff must have happened on the 2 hour drive to redding. THey told me that if I paid to have it towed to their shop they would give me a disount on labor and it would not cost me the $3200 that my mechanic quoted me. I told them that I would not trust their mechanics to do this work if they could not even spot a oil leak when they supposedly inpected this vehicle. My mechanic took pictures of everything that was wrong so there would be not miss  understandings about what he was looking at.

Craig and Cliff told me that the pictures would not be necessary. This was all less than 24 hours after I bought this vehicle. I take full responsibility for not having my mechanic check this vehicle out prior to purchasing it . I put too much trust in the good nature of human beings and thought these guys would not rip  off an american soldier which is how they tried to earn my trust in the first place by not making me pay sales tax. You live and you learn, so learn from me and stay away from this place.

That's the chance you take when you agree to purchase a vehicle sight-unseen without a test drive. Happy motoring!
