CBT Media Group Ripoff Fraudulent Billing of Credit Debit Card Van Nuys California
The company offers DVD rental by mail. I cancelled on 12/28/06 because they have lengthy delays in sending out DVDs as well as even longer delays before claiming that the DVD has been returned. I received an E-mail telling me that I had seven days to return the DVD that I had or I would be charged for the DVD. I wrote back immediately and told them that I had not even received the DVD in the mail yet and that I would return it immediately upon receipt.
The DVD did arrive two days later and, in good faith because I had cancelled my account, I did not even open the envelope that the DVD arrived in and marked the envelope REFUSED - RETURN TO SENDER. I mailed the DVD from the post office.
Today, (January 18, 2007), I learned that my VISA card was charged $39.99 for the DVD.
I have telephoned the company and it appears that the number is a cell phone as I received the standard cell message to "Press one to page this person or wait for the tone to leave a message."
I left a detailed message, and despite the fact that the message indicates that the company answers the phone between 10am and 5pm, I have not been able to speak with anyone nor has my call been returned.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, the Attorney General's Office in California as well as with my bank to start a charge-back. Apparently, for this site and others, this company does this frequently to customers who end their membership.
