I received a letter, complete with "credit card", in the mail today, and after a bit of research online, discovered that many people aside from myself have either fallen victim to this scam, or have saved themselves just in time.

The card promises a $6,500 in-house credit limit, complete with cash advances and the whole nine yards. Which, being that my credit is virtually non-existent, would be a wonderful thing. However, I never applied for such a card, and had no reason to believe that I would ever receive such a thing. Until now.

The fine print states that there is a $199 annual fee, whether or not you use the card, which is "waived" if you use it. It also states you can use it to order from their catalog, but no such catalog arrived... only the card and terms of payment.

I attempted to call the number provided, to find out how they obtained my information in the first place, but it is only an automated line and no operator answers... and I was not about to activate the blasted card, just to get the company to tell me more about themselves.

I cut the card up, and burned the confirmation number and "electronic signature" code they included. I would recommend doing this to anyone who gets such a letter, since there is no other way to protect yourself 100% from someone else getting the card and using it in your name, thus potentially ruining your credit.

If you don't want to take my word for it, Google the company (CCA credit were the keywords I used), and read what many, many others have said, and have BEEN saying since 2005. This "company" is bad news.

Okay, the whole story seems fine. Good luch to those, who will believe.
But, I am a victim- "that's that"......
I never agreed to have anything to do with this company, I was trying to get an emergency loan from a different company, and somehow my personal information was compromised. At the bottom of the online application I saw the message - "Your checking account will be billed for 198.00$ etc. and I knew right a way that they got me... And 2 weeks before that I got the letter in the mail. I went to work with it, saying to myself " O, my God, I am the king, look how much credit I got approve for." I asked my co-workers if they knew anything about it, they didn't. But they noticed the high fees and they didn't like that. They advised me to simply throw it way. Before I did that,I call the number, and all I got was the automated mashine with only 1 option- to activate the card. I went home, I told my family. and they also didn't like it...hey, 5 years ago I was ready to do things like that. But since then - I am wiser. You see, dont do it, if you dont like it. I will never sign up for that, because I am very, very scared. And this is a feeling, that consumers are not friendly with....

The First National Card offered by CCA is a MERCHANT CREDIT CARD, it is for use in the company's catalogs exclusively. If you read the approval letter you will see all of the details and information including any/all fees involved and the terms of the Free Trial Period associated with membership. I worked there for three years, so trust me on this: The program is not a scam, it just costs money. If you have no credit or bad credit, you are going to have to 'buy' yourself some credit anyway, so this is just another way to establish a line of credit.

The most important thing to remember is that the company really is going to extend a large line of credit, it is really interest free, it can help you build your credit. Also keep in mind that were you to get a 'regular' credit card with your bad/non-exhisting credit, they would be charging a ridiculous amount of interest, and don't tell me you'd just pay it off every month, that's just stupid. Why have/use credit if you can just pay it off? that's not using your credit whisely.

So take a look at the letter, see what other offers have come your way (look at interest rates, how much credit they are willing to extend) and see if the program works for you. THe company does have many happy customers who read and understood the program, it is just sad that the only people who post comments are those people who are just this side of ignorant, and then get mad because the company took money that they agreed to give... I often wonder how society has made it this far, oh yeah, maybe that's the problem.......ignorance.

I left the company on good terms and still believe in my heart that the company is not scamming anyone, they give the customer every opportunity to read over the details and decide whether or not to take advantage of it. Look at any business and you will see that the owner is in it to make money, why else does anyone go to work. If you don't like the program, don't sign up, it's that simple, just don't listen to every person posting here, as many of them have yet to actually sit down and read there paperwork. Thank you for you time.
