I ordered an engine from them based on good reviews.  It was installed by Subaru certified techs.  The cost to me was very high, $4600+, that included the shipping and a core deposit, which is funny you pay 450 for the deposit, and when the old engine is sent back to them they are supposed to repay that 450. CCR took their time returning the core deposit, over 4 months and then it was not the whole deposit but they had deducted about $100 for what they said were damages.  My car had not been in an accident so the engine I sent them was not damaged, but failed for oil consumption problem..

The engine comes with a warranty 36 months or 50,000 miles.  Since they are a tech shop in Colorado, to make a claim on the warranty is hard to do.    I spoke to a woman who did not give her name and asked her how they test the rebuild before sending to the customer and I was told they do not test them before sending to the customer.  For a claim on warranty they request the engine be relifted and shipped back to Colorado for repair, then ship it back to me and I can put it back in.  This is not a battery we are talking about it is an engine installation. Putting the engine in the first time cost $1800, addition to the 4500 I paid for the engine.  CCR 36 month 50000 mile warranty states: “Any licensed repair facility may perform warranty repairs with PRIOR authorization from CCR.”   CCR did not answer my calls and letter.

A look at the CCR website at this time shows this note “We will be taking a mini vacation while we relocate the business under new management.”  I am concerned that a relocation and new management is how they wash their hands of any obligation to customers.  The business owners are listed as Emily and Richard Johnston, 4895 Newport St, Commerce City, Colorado, 80022-4611.The zip code does not match their city and state.

Happy with my CCR Subaru Rebuilt engine

My Subaru suffered the usual (design flaw driven) head gasket failure and I got a new (rebuilt) motor from CCR at 130,000 miles.  My Forester now has 213,000 on it and had never had any engine issues.

Auto Trans Issues? YES.  AC? Yes.  Brakes and axles? yes.  Autodim mirror? Yes (fluid inside flowed down from between the mirror panes.)  We've been very happy with the "new" motor and YES it was really expensive.

Like $6,800 all told for the motor and the install.  But cheaper than a new car or more engine work.  CCR was easy to work with and even arranged a "hot" cam for me for a little more spirited driving experience.
