Around 2 months ago I went to the DMV to get a new licence in California. I was then told that Washington state had a hold on my licence. I spoke with the DMV and they informed me that my licence had a hold on it due to unpaid accident damages, and the company handling it was CCS.

I spoke with CCS and setteled my account with them, at which point i was told it would be up to 24 days until the hold was released from my licence. Now this was already longer than i had expected, and I am loosing money everyday I dont have my licence so I wasnt happy, but since this was all a result of me not paying earlier I waited it out. A few weeks later, (aproximately 28 days) I called the DMV to see if the hold was still on my Licence, it was. I called CCS and was informed that almost nothing had happened in the way of progress on my case. I was then told that what needs to happen is they needed to send proof that it had been paid to the insurrance company (MetLife) It then needed to be verified by them, and sent back to CCS and then they needed to send that off to the DMV. All of this aparantly happening via regular, painfully slow, air mail. She then told me she would request that the information be sent to metlife again (leading me to believe that this is the first time this has happened) She also told me that it could take up to 30 days(hooray a new longer time frame.) At this point it was thursday, and she told me that the 30 days was not up until sunday so to call back on monday. seeing as it was a thursday and i knew they weren't going to do anything over the weekend I was doubtful, but i waited.

On monday, i called back, I was then told that now MetLife had a hold on the account for one reason or another. I called MetLife and was told that they had faxed the paperwork the previous week and they did not have a hold on it. I called CCS back and they assured me that they had not recieved the paperwork, all the while no one will give me an extension so i have to start with a new person every time i call.

The following week (today) I called back and was again told that they had not recieved the paperwork and that sometimes this process can take up to 45 days (seriously, can they all get on one page.) I called Metlife back and was told that they had infact not faxed the paperwork but had started to "process" the paperwork.

It has now been close to 40 days, and i still have a hold on my licence after paying them close to $2000 dollars. It would seem that in the age of the internet this kind of thing could be cleared up in 24 hours, but i am constantly being told there is nothing that they can do and just to wait. Shouldnt a company have to stick by a timeframe they give you, instead of just changing the timeframe. Shouldnt I be able to get a direct extension for someone that can handle my case so i dont have to explain it everytime i call. I am loosing close to $200 every day this is happening. Its really quite frustrating.
