CCS Credit Collection Services Has no information about the original creditor. Needham Heights, Massachusetts
I received a credit collection notice in the mail from CCS for over $94. It says it was from an original debt owing to Hollywood Video.
I called CCS and all they could tell me is that Hollywood Video is claiming I checked out 3 games in May 2009 and never turned them in. I said I know for a fact that I had and I wanted to dispute this. They told me the only way to dispute it is to prove that I had turned them in and show them copies. How do you prove you turned in games to a box located outside a video store that doesn't even exist anymore?
I told them I wanted the address of Hollywood Video so I could contact them. They told me they weren't given an address and would not be able to provide me with one. I mentioned that according to the letter I received from them, it was Federal Law that they provide me with this information if I wrote them a letter asking for it. They still said they would not be able to give it to me. I told them without this information, they should remove the charges. Of course they would not. I had to ask to speak to a supervisor who said they should be able to give me the address if I write to them.
I still have no idea how I am going to dispute charges on something I can't prove I did. If this happened in May 2009, why wasn't I ever notified?
