What a scam these guys have going for them!

I am an avid internet shopper & having my groceries delivered directly to me was very appealing. I gave the first salesman over 2 hours of my time. The salesman touted all of their meat products as prime grade, no hormones, etc. He claimed that if I was unhappy with anything that they would replace it with something else. HA! This marathon sales pitch took so long that it got to the point where I signed just to end the agony!

It's interesting that, no matter how many times I asked, no one could give me a per pound price. Why do they hide this? Because if they told people, they'd be out of business tomorrow.

The food was delivered... some was good, some just OK & some absolutely horrible.

So, I was dumb enough to reorder. Did I mention that I really like home delivery?

Another salesman came out. We told him that, while some of the meat was very good, some we really didn't like at all. No arrangement was made to make good on the claim of 100% guaranteed. Even though the delivery guy picked up the remainder of the food we didn't like, no effort was ever made to give us this guarantee... and we asked several times.

To add insult to injury, they sold us a cookware set "for free" with our 2nd order. Turns out this cookware set cost us a whopping $1750 & at 19% interest! Let me tell you, this is not $1750 cookware in value. Only in cost. They claim that discounts they give you for buying items such as this pay for themselves. Not likely, since they inflate the costs of the groceries & meat so high, the cookware is just icing on their cake.

And, sadly, this horribly expensive set of cookware IS NOT guaranteed. I just gave these people nearly $2000 just for darkening my doorstep. I have semi-OK pots & pans. I wouldn't expect that they're worth any more than about $350. And it's frustrating that there's not a d**n thing I can do about it.

They tried to sell us a 3rd order. The salesman was rude & insulting. Needless to say, I warn others to learn from my mistakes... STAY AWAY!

Not entirely their fault.

I've been a customer of theirs for three deliveries. I've found the quality of their "raw" (unprepared) food to be quite good. Their precooked "food prepared by chefs" is not really that good. When I placed my second order, I noted (on the previous invoice which I kept) the food I was not happy with. They said they would sub it out for whatever else I liked. When I placed my second (and third) orders, I made it a point to order the unprepared food only.

It may have taken them a month or two, but my replacement food order was shipped, and they did honor their guarantee.

I also recieved a booklet showing a complete price breakdown showing all weights, product information (calories, fat, etc) and price per pound.

I was also offered the "high quality" knives, cookware, crystal, etc, and recieved the speil about it costing next to nothing "because of the savings I'll get on future orders" but I passed. I will admit they use a very hard sell, but simply using an insistent NO, I got away unscathed. AVOID buying anything but frozen food from them (Yes... even the freezer).

Some other advice in dealing with them:

DO NOT participate in the "bonus plan" (I think you HAVE to order a minimum of 6 times to get an additional discount) unless you are 100% sure you are happy with the service/quality. Wait until 2 or 3 orders and find out if you really like them before making this comittment (which they WILL hold you to).

The "$1000 minimum order" line is BS. I got that straight from their offices in CA. When they sent a salesman for my third order who said this was the case, I called their office and put him on the phone with them.

They're not a completely dishonest company, but as in all other places Caveat Emptor applies here.
